Medically the show jumped the shark for me when Mark Sloane had “the surge” before he died. All the doctors just watching him being happy and animated and dolefully saying to each other “It’s the surge” because apparently Sondra Rhimes couldn’t be bothered to tell us what he actually died of.
I thought it was a tedious episode in many ways, saved by the acting of the actress who plays Amelia I didn’t like the approach that they took in terms of time, etc. I hope to not have to see the carousel or Ellis Grey for the remainder of the series.
Kate Burton is a terrific actress, but those repetitive Ellis in a wig scenes were annoying. And I thought she sounded a bit like Sally Langston, her Scandal character. Though maybe after fleeing to Boston, Ellis did become a conservative Southern politician. Now THAT would be a plot twist. ;))
As far as Meredith goes, I thought last night’s episode could have been the series finale. There wasn’t that much about it that I loved, but I did like how Miranda Bailey stroked Meredith’s arm in the elevator on her first day back at the hospital. I felt like the episode proved she was like her mother, but not her mother since she was extraordinary and could be strong enough to bear life without Derek. What more is there to say for her? She often haves a tender moment with the Chief at critical junctures, but she seems to have even moved past that.
Callie Torres (Sara Ramirez). She’s actually not an original; she came in Season 2.
Well, I just watched it, and I thought it was great.
My post earlier today proves that I should proof my writing. Should have been has instead of haves and just want to go on the record that I do know better. Back to the show, I saw two comments today on Facebook related to a possible relationship between Meredith and Alex. Does anyone think they would go there?
Yes.
They’ve gone everywhere else, so it wouldn’t surprise me too much if they put Alex and Meredith together. Then she’ll develop early-onset Alzheimer’s. Then Alex will be paralyzed in some hospital disaster. It really is a soap opera.
There wasn’t much Alex/Jo interaction in this episode, and is she becoming a plastics intern now, or was it just her long rotation with the burn patients? She is my favorite of the newer characters, though in some ways she’s a recycled Izzie: a pretty girl with a rough background.
Well I found myself crying again last night!

I said I would not like Alex and Meredith together. Also, I don’t particularly like Amelia. She is smug and cold. And now apparently she is going to accuse Meredith of robbing her the chance to say goodbye. Meredith is dealing with a lot. She doesn’t need to be made to feel guilty.
I sound like I’m talking about a real person. Haha
I liked that she was pregnant, I wasn’t expecting that. I also agree loved the moment when Bailey stroked her arm. I thought the Ellis/carousel got old really really fast. I thought Catherine proposing with all the decorations was so unrealistic and over the top, I’m ashamed of the writers and Shonda.
I love the speech by Derek they replayed about Meredith having been through such horrible experiences, but how that allowed her to help everyone else get through the bad things. Meredith and Alex? Hmmm…NO!
I knew Meredith would be pregnant the second Derek said he wanted more. Again with the foreshadowing.
I thought it was tedious also - they are really milking these clips. And the Amelia plot line while well acted was predictable from the first minute.
Sick of Ellis too but I’d rather have the ‘real’ Ellis in a wig than that blond woman they had been using for the younger version, who looks nothing like her - that was so distracting!
Another no to Meredith and Alex. I like Alex with the other girl. The writer believes in silence in going through tragic events. Derek went through that and advised the same to Christina. Meredith was doing the same. Echoing events with Ellis is a bit theoretical, life goes around and around?
Indeed, the carousel never stops turning, and Shonda never stops pounding that epiphany into our brains.
Alex and Meredith? I would take a lot of convincing.
Meredith and Karev will ultimately end up together.
In #56 that I posted, I said that I thought Meredith would end up as Chief. This was before we knew that Owen was stepping down. I will be interested to see if I’m right for once about some show. At first I thought Karev and Meredith…nah…but now some of you might be right! Seems just too coincidental that she’s going “home”. Actually I like these two storylines…new chief and Meredith returning to her house. I actually liked this show with badass April. I liked Amelia and Meredith in the supply room. I liked Edwards doing a “Bailey” on us…although I thought the interns were sort of stupid acting. Considering I didn’t really think I’d watch after Derek, I found myself enjoying the show…but enough with the “I’m Derek, I’m Meredith” flashback. How many times have we seen that the last 3 shows?
