Gtown Traditions

Are there any Georgetown traditions? (Ex: Columbia has it’s yearly tree-lighting ceremony)

Not sure if it’s anything like Columbia, but before you graduate you’re supposed to have a picture taken of you sitting on the lap of John Carroll and swimming in one of the fountains. And no one’s supposed to step on the seal.

Every year on Halloween all the students go trick-or treating at the foreign embassies, which I cannot wait for. They also show “The Exorcist” on campus (part of it was filmed at the university).

Georgetown Day!

Georgetown v. Syracuse

Watching the exorcist in Gaston Hall is cool, you should go. Trick or treating at embassies is also cool, but go EARLY, as in…it finishes around 5 pm. Go inside the embassies when you can to look around. Also Halloween is on a Saturday this year so you will have all day free to go, so that’s a good thing.

Midnight Madness (first official basketball practice). It’s some time in October and open to students. Lots of other schools do this too, but its special at Georgetown because its one of the only opportunities to watch basketball in the on-campus practice facility - McDonough Gym.

HOYA SAXA! yelled at sporting events

The Tombs (for beverages, burgers, brownies, etc.)

Wisemiller’s (deli) Chicken Madness (sandwich)
