Admission is always behind with transfer apps. If you need to know your decision you can email them and say what is the last date you need to know by. Honestly, I doubt they will have updated anything by 4/7, two years ago I heard back from them around 4/30, and that’s only because I said I needed to know by May 1st so I don’t have to put down a housing deposit at my old college. So be patient, I’m sure all of you will hear good news soon.

Dr_Mom, historically (and from what I’ve heard from my GT counselor), GTs who met all requirements generally find out around mid-April (like probably next two weeks), and those who didn’t find out in the latter half of the month.

I pretty much just set up an online account to check decisions, that’s all. It won’t let me see what the office received and what it didn’t… yet.

Thanks, yg18 and diehldun–My S says he was told he’d hear in early May at his college at Cornell, so I think some schools might be a month out yet in sending their decisions. This other communication is probably system-wide from the application center place thingie, or something like that. I’m sure transfer decision dates may vary by college and GTs may or may not hear at the same time as other transfer applicants.

If I haven’t gotten an email yet, should I worry? Or should I just be patient for a week or two? I keep thinking that my application/financial aid stuff got lost in the mail and making myself nervous.

indigo, i haven’t received email from cornell either. i was gettin nervous so i called transfer processing center today and the lady told me that most of the transfer apps haven’t been processed yet, so she urged me to call me back in a week. i just have a patience for one more week, and if i don’t hear back, i will start the phone/email franzy. btw, u should call the office too just to check wht’s goin on.

To anyone who got e-mails (WTC, Dr_Mom, etc.): even though you are a GT, did it start off with:

“Greetings from Cornell University! We have received your application for
admission and are delighted to learn of your interest in the university.”

Maybe I’m being a little paranoid here, but the wording makes it seem as though there’s no GT involved at all (it sounds like I’m a new, “regular” transfer applicant)! The e-mail was sent from the Cornell Admissions Staff.

i simply hate waiting this long. this is really getting old and im runnin outta patience. ive been waiting for cornell reply for a while, LOL.

delivery man,

Oh, awesome. That’s so reassuring. I’ll call in a week or so if I don’t hear anything, too. Thanks. :)

diehldun, yes it is the same exact wording.
When I logged on to the system on the day when freshmen admission decisions were released, I remember reading something about decision will be posted on another site that requires another set of password and username. Can any freshmen applicants explain how to check admission result this year?

go to undergrad admissions. there should be a link saying “freshman regular applicants will receive decisions at 5:00 p.m.” that takes you to the site where the decisions were.

https://app.applyyourself.com/?id=cornellu

Hi, diehldun–Yes; that sounds like the wording my S read to me over the phone. It’s just a form message, you know? They didn’t tailor-make it to GTs or anything like that. When my S logged in, he said he didn’t see any specifics yet, either. Just the message to check back for an update after April 7. We concluded that the note is just telling you your transfer application was received and is being processed. My sense is that they hope to have them all processed by April 7 so that’s when they recommend students check the site again to see what forms, if any, they might be missing. I think this whole thing is very similar to the process you went through around the time of either the early decision or regular decision application deadlines. If you can think waaaaay back that far, the wording, screens, process, etc. are all very similar. It’s just all automated.

Hope this helps!

grantortue, thanks for the info. Did Cornell send you a separate set of username and password or if it is just the one you use to check application status?

Well that’s relieving to hear! I think after so many months, it’s easy to get paranoid over the smallest details!

WTC, I’m not sure. I probably wouldn’t worry too much about these details yet.

whenever i visit this forum, i get super nervous and i don’t think i’ll get in…!

don’t worry…if you’re a GT and fulfill every requirement laid out in your agreement you’ve got nothing to worry about!

WTC- it was different than the one we used for ED, which is on the cornell website. They sent us a username which was made up of a bunch of numbers and a few letters, and our password was a combo. of our name. Much diff. than ED

Yeah, like grantortue said, we got a totally different one on a different site that was linked to the Common App. It worked a lot better than the ED one though, because the ED one was down for a good several hours after decisions were released whereas the one for RD gave me no problems at all.

Yeah, why should you really be worried if you met all the GT requirements? If anything, I’m the one who should be freaked out…

I’m just worried that Cornell didn’t receive my application or financial aid info. I sent it a lot later than you did and haven’t received any confirmation, that’s all. I’m sure everything will turn out fine for all of us, but I’m still crossing my fingers until we officially find out we’re in. :)
