Dude. Whiskey Tango Foxtrot?!?! Seriously? They told everyone that not only were decisions *made *last week they were sentlast week!!

I’m glad you got your transcripts in though, WildcattoHoya…but GD it if we weren’t all expecting more out of GWU than this elongated water boarding session.

Hang in there. There is still hope! GWU does seem to be excessively slow with mailing things. My daughter will be an incoming freshman. Thankfully she/we got an email on the morning of April 1st about her getting a great scholarship. Otherwise we wouldn’t have been able to afford the school. That was the day she was waiting on some decisions from other schools which she ultimately didn’t get in or was put on their waitlist, which was very disappointing for her. Anyway, the email made a tough day WAY better. But then we were waiting on the final admissions packet to arrive because we wanted to go over her Easter break for an admitted students’ day and it supposedly contained the info we needed. They kept saying it was going to be mailed out the next day…etc etc,…or something like that, but we had to just go ahead and leave on the trip and the packet never came until we got back. So, it seems that it took them a way longer time than they were letting on to actually mail it out.

alright. i’m tired of this. i just got off the phone with gw admissions and the guy said that they are still mailing letters out, like today. and that we should FOR SURE know by next week.

Alright…Maybe GWU is concerned we aren’t good enough! Let’s prove it - time for a Pop Quiz!

We are all still checking our GW Activity Center because we are:
a. Optimistic
b. Confused.
c. Emotionally Unstable.
d. Mentally unstable.
e. All of the Above.
f. a, c, d, b, q, z…okay its obviously e!

Supposing GWU’s transfer applicant pool is 1500 strong, if 18 applicants monitor a forum, and 3 of them have received responses, what percent of the applicant pool monitoring the forum has yet to receive a decision?
a. uhhh…I’m an English major…so…I’m skipping this one
b. not 100%
b. not 50%
c. …if its not 100%, and its a month after the notification date, who gives a poo?

"i just got off the phone with gw admissions and the guy said that they are still mailing letters out, like today. and that we should FOR SURE know by next week. "

We’ve never heard that before! Gee whiz! My expectations and excitement are through the roof right now! Golly!

…not…

That one was for all the 80’s kids in here It seems we likely make up the majority of the transfer population…

I feel so bad for all of you still waiting for a decision - I can’t even imagine!!

Good luck, and I hope they’re telling the truth THIS TIME when they say you’ll definitely have decisions by next week! Crossing my fingers for you all!

Next week? They have been telling us that since “Beginning May 1”, which is the notification date listed on the website. Maybe they should change it to “Beginning May 26, and extending into the middle of June (hopefully)”.

:) @PinkMingo … pessimism and sarcasm are about all I have left in my once-PMA toolkit right now…

For the accepted folks - what are the deposit amount and respond by dates listed on your packets? I wonder if they’ll be different depending on when we get our decisions… Is there any other information in there that might help us all through the wait period with a bit of info to look forward to if accepted? Thanks in advance…

@kitnkat03 - My deposit is due June 21st and they require a nonrefundable $800(!!) deposit. The packet consists of a main welcome and congrats page, a 2nd page talking about the college my major is in(business), and a folder within the folder which includes deposit instructions, and the transfer credit report. They also include an envelope to mail your deposit check in.

@Kulakai - Thanks! That helps me plan some financial issues with the move and whatnot…does it say whether they accept credit card payments or if check is the only form of acceptable payment? Thanks again - like you point out with the (!!)…with so little notice, an $800 deposit is often substantial for a financially independent transfer student…I wonder how that works for veterans since our tuition expenses are supposed to be covered entirely by the YRP…we probably get reimbursed or something.

@kitnkat03 - It appears as if they only accept check from how the instructions were worded. I have not called to ask them about it but I imagine the reason why is because as a merchant you are charged a certain % on processing credit card transactions and it saves them money by only accepting checks.

I have no idea how they handle that when you’re a vet but you’ll have at least 3 weeks to make the deposit according to the timeframe I received so you can call them to work it out with time to spare I bet if accepted.

So yeah…in case you hadn’t all guessed it…I didn’t get anything today.

I called some poor soul at the admissions office around 4:55 EST and just tried my very best not to get angry with him…cause lord knows its not his fault…I told them I have reserve duty beginning next Saturday for a week…during which I may not be able to check my mail…so maybe they could at least tell me if it was in the mail, right? No…he didn’t have access to that information…and oh, by the way, he said they expect, “to have all the decisions made by next week.”

lol @kit, I reached that point like a week ago. I would suggest you look for something in downtown Silver Spring, they’ve spent a lot of money trying to renovate it plus it literally borders D.C. so you could Metro everywhere and be virtually car-less.

I imagine most people who are looking for more affordable apartments or houses to rent tend to rent out west along the orange line in NoVa such as in arlington, falls church, fairfax etc. so you are not having to deal with a long ride in AND transferring downtown somewhere to the orange line, no?

Im tired of waiting and the false word. First thing Monday morning, Im going to call them and to express my dissatisfaction. Almost a month and half to get decisions out.

Hey everyone! I transferred to GW this past fall and I am one of the students helping with GW transfers this year! We have already created a facebook group for you. Here’s the link : <a href=“Facebook - log in or sign up”>Facebook - log in or sign up.

Once you are accepted we will also be getting everyone on a list serve! Good luck to everyone and hopefully the decisions will be out soon!

Let me know if you have any questions! (besides if I know when the decisions will be out =))
