had an interview today...

I think it went well… Wish me luck!!!

good luck!!!

Good luck Fendergirl!! We all remember you “when”. Hope this is a good opportunity for you and it comes through.

I should hear by the end of next week… It’s a position in the same company… I’ll keep everyone posted! I honestly feel like I nailed the interview but hey who knows… maybe everyone else feels that way too!

Everyone does NOT feel that way. I have had job interviews where I left thinking “I blew it,” and I was right. I have also had interviews where, in the course of the conversation, both I and the people from the company realized that the job and I were not a match, and that was the end of that.

So if you feel you did well, you probably did. Of course, that doesn’t guarantee that you’ll get the job – other people probably did well, too. But still, it’s a good feeling.

The person who did the interview was actually my old boss - she transferred departments about a year and a half ago - so we already knew each other which I think helped. She had another girl with her there to take notes whom I also knew. It was a behavioral type interview - tell us about a time when you… type of thing. One of the questions that she asked me I was about to give an example of something i had done back when I was her employee and before I could answer she said something like “wait, didn’t you do something like that for me once?” and I was like yep! and then I ran with it! I said it’s always a good feeling when the interviewer knows you well enough that they know your answer before you say it! (I think!) I sold myself like never before… I just hope they agree!!

I think your former bosss wants you back. she’d be lucky

I hope so, this would be a great opportunity.

Good luck!

thanks jym!

Fingers crossed. Moving within the same company can be a wonderful thing. New challenges, new people, but lots of things same-old-same-old.

Moving within the same company means keeping the same great benefits but having new challenges and different responsibilities. It would be so nice to mix things up a bit.

my BF interviewed for the same job today… he said he thought his went okay… he had a different person do his interview then i did, but he knew her also… apparently they are going to be picking about 4-6 people out of the 20 of us who got an interview… so I guess one or both of us have decent odds at it… should hear by this time next week.

Can’t wait to hear the great news when you officially get the job you are so well-qualified for and can celebrate with you!

Wait a minute – you’re competing with your BF for the same job? This cannot be good.

Kind of a long story but it’s not a big deal. We get it or we don’t. no drama. :)

Well, she said there are a number of openings & the two of them are among the 20 who were interviewed. I’m sure they will figure out how to handle things as they proceed.

Got a letter from HR a little before I was leaving today - Didn’t get the job. BF has been out of work all week after being in the ER last Friday but I saw an envelope sitting on his desk also so I’m assuming he got rejected too. (He should be returning to work tomorrow. Poor guy missed wed and thurs last week, came in friday for his interview then left, and hasn’t been in yet this week at all.) Not quite sure who did get the job… they didn’t make any announcements yet. It was a pretty standard letter (probably the one they use on all rejections) saying that they didn’t think you were a perfect fit for the position (it was in training). It did however say that they would be giving me one of their ‘helper’ spots (someone who assists with training 1-2 days a week and does their normal job the rest of the week) and they hoped I would accept the chance to do that. I’ll do it but I’m pretty upset. My boss wasn’t in today but I have a 1 on 1 meeting with her on Tuesday so I’m sure we’ll talk about it then.

Funny thing was about an hour before I got my letter my BF texted me saying something along the lines of I can’t wait till you send me the good news that you got your job… then I sent him my bad news and he was like well at least we have vacation in a week… that’s something to look forward to.

:(

Hang in there fendergirl! Hope you like the new assignment.

Hmmm, sounds like they want to give you a consolation prize & recognize you’re great for the job but for whatever reason didn’t/couldn’t offer it to you. What a disappointment, but who knows whether something better may evolve because of this? That has happened to me sometimes.
