I thought that Bruce was FABULOUS and I loved the 1/2 time show. The game…well…sorry, but it’s a dud. I vote for the next Super Bowl…that the 1/2 time show be the length of the game (with a performance like the one tonight) and the game be shortened to the length of the 1/2 time show.

I just finished watching the half time show. Weekend Update on SNL was right. The game has been the opening act for Springsteen. He was terrific.

Bruce was fabulous- but he always is! I think the game is good.

I am going to tell you all that I could have been one of those groupies at the super bowl. We were selected to go down there a week early to rehearse with the Boss, but I couldn’t take a week off.

I am going to be online at 9 to buy tickets!!!

Actually I saw him in concert about 5 years ago. It was awful. He was all preachy and political. I was very disappointed. When he sticks to his tried and true tunes, he is wonderful.

Thumper1- not surprised you would like Bruce.:)

I saw that concert too. We couldn’t even get up from our seats. There was a lot of stumping on the stage.

Yeah Bruce for mvp. Jennifer Hudson was great too. I hope you watched the whole game though. It was far from a dud. Actually one of the better Superbowls I’ve seen. Then again, I am a Steelers (and Eagles) fan.

oldfort, That’s funny that the groupies were rehearsed, but makes perfect sense. I even remarked about how well behaved the crowd was when he ventured into it. I’m a big Bruce fan and it was a lot of fun to watch. Hope to see him in a few months.

I wanted to hear Spirits in the Night.
Saw Springsteen in concert once. It was at University of Michigan. He played in the symphony hall, not in the basketball stadium. It must have been 1974. It was his birthday. As I recall he literally crawled back out for his encore… very dramatic! It blows my mind that he is still performing (many the same songs… lol) after all these years.

Bruce was great and glad he actually sang live. It seems so few performers are willing to sing live anymore. Jennifer Hudson was taped and so was Faith Hill. I know that venue is the worst but they should go for it.

I decided to watch the game since Mike Tomlin graduated from my alma mater so I had to cheer him on.

I’m just pleased that Max Weinberg, Pender, and LaBamba were all in the band!

NJres–I saw Bruce once at Mich, too, but in Chrysler. I’ve seen him a bunch of times–first ones were in Red BAnk (I grew up in Springsteen land, went to the same HS as Miami Steve.) Am hoping for tickets at nine, too, Oldfort! Just killing time now.

Success. Had 15 screens open, 14 of them failed on me at the last minute, only one went through. 4 tickets for NJ. I swear there is scam going on with Ticketmaster, within 5 minutes they had tickets selling in the secondary market for 200-600.

I saw Springsteen three or four times back in the day, once from third row seats. He has always put on one of the best and energetic shows in rock and roll. No 45 minute sets for him. Patti looked great!

Congrats, oldfort! No tickets for me–kept timing out.

Bruce was great and glad he actually sang live. It seems so few performers are willing to sing live anymore. Jennifer Hudson was taped and so was Faith Hill. I know that venue is the worst but they should go for it. "

I heard that the venue managers directed that Hudson / Hill would be taped as opposed to live, not Hudson / Hill themselves.

But the best moment was when he slid into the camera!

The Boss made the game. That was the shortest set he has ever played. I saw him about 6 years ago and he was fantastic. Everyone in the arena was on their feet the entire show. The only political comments were during one of his about 6 encores when he played Born in the USA. Very fitting. Singer songwriters have a lot to say.
The groupies are “rehearsed” because they are not game ticket holders and they need to get on and off the field quickly with no wandering around. It is a great gig to get if you can. A free concert with the possibility of standing right next to the stage. Wow.

Don’t you think Patty has had some work done? Her face looked fantastic and she has got to be older than I am.
