Hancock -- the movie SPOILER ALERT

Do not read this if you have not seen Hancock but intend to. I do not want to spoil the plot for anyone.

I was really into the movie and loving the whole flawed Superhero theme. Did I miss something? Did they ever explain why someone wanted to kill them? What was the motivation behind the man with one arm? How did they both come back to life? And at the end was the female superhero still in NY and Hancock living someplace else?

I didn’t get it all – but I think the answer to you last two questions are:

They both came back to life because he got away from her – more distance, more superpowers.

She was living in NY and Hancock was some other big city.

Not sure about the one-armed man or why someone was trying to kill them. I think some of the essential info was left on the cutting room floor.

I went to see Speed Racer at the dollar theatre (thank goodness – I would have hated to spend more than a dollar on that movie) and I was lost for much of the movie. Never did figure out how winning a race changed the corporate world.

Thanks hsmomstef. And thanks for the warning about Speed Racer.

The one-armed man was from the bank robbery earlier in the movie. Remember, the robber had his thumb on the bomb detonater (sp), so Hancock cut his arm off?

Just saw the movie today, and H had to explain that part to me!

This movie was one I was interested in, but didn’t want to actually see, so I checked out the plot on www.themoviespoiler.com. I also like using the site to find out who survives in scary movies without actually having to watch them.

I got the impression, clearly unstated in the movie, that Hancock and superwoman were attacked by a crowd in Florida because they were an interracial couple.

where’d he get all the red for the moon?

Oh my gosh! it never occurred to me that the one-armed man might be from the bank robbery. I was thinking he was from the crime 80 years before when Hancock was hit in the head and got amnesia. That would make more sense to me.

As for the interracial couple thing, I doubt that was part of the original plot. It did make me feel that this script was probably written with someone like Brad Pitt in mind instead of Will Smith. But I’m very glad to see that a black man can be cast as a superhero even when the female lead is white. However, they did share only one half-second kiss in the movie. No matter. We’re probably reading too much into the interracial angle. I’m black, by the way, and a real Will Smith fan no matter who the leading lady is.

Isn’t Will Smith & Jada Pinkett’s toddler daughter playing Jennifer Conolly’s daughter in an upcoming movie?

The one armed man was later seen in prison with a hook on his arm talking to the other two prisoners (one with a neckbrace on) who were also victims of Hancock’s power (the head up the XXX guys when Hancock arrived at prsion).
