What is yours?

Mine is when my daughter called after her third interview for a job she really wanted and screamed “Mom I got the job!” So great that my firstborn is now fully cooked.

Watching WildChild cross the finish line of the Ironman World Championship in Kona, Hawaii! Arms stretched to the sky! As an athlete myself, I consider this one of the greatest accomplishments in all of sports- and he had to qualify to even get to be in the race! It was a proud moment for me.

MOWC that is amazing! I am so impressed. Just wow!

My proposal from my fiance. It was just wonderfully done and I was surrounded by so many loved ones at the time.

Here’s to many happy memories in 2014!

2013, how can I remember that? It was so long ago :D

I feel selfish saying it, but it has to do with my job. Something that I have been advocating for for two years was actually implemented.

^^Nothing selfish about that. Something important you thought of finally gets implemented? Hallelujah, that can be the best memory of the decade!

zoosermom, my daughter getting her first real job was also a highlight of the year (not to mention of my life – almost 22 years exactly from her birth to her being self-supporting!)

I also took an academic trip and made a presentation that was well received. It was a very meaningful experience and definitely a highlight.

D has been working full time in music for over a year but this year she reached a trifecta milestone for a young singer (paid, lead, full Rossini role) When D got a standing O for her first professional Rossini lead I cried for happy–the high point this year. But sadly this lead to a low point as well. Leaving for her new life in Europe three months ago. SIGH

Some of these things are amazing and life changing! Musicamusica, I can only imagine that. It sounds like a fairy tale.

When we closed on our apartment. I read in my father’s diary (an entry just few days before he died) how relieved he was that we finally decided to buy an apartment.

D1 named #1 analyst again, second year in a row.

D2 had the best semester ever.

Tough year, but so many good things happened too.

Zoosermom:Living and singing in a beautiful European capitol with the man she loves. Very fairy tale-ish.
But what’s in it for me? ;)

Mine was when my 18-year-old son, home for a break from his gap year program, asked, “Mom, I noticed some mold on the kids’ bathroom ceiling. Could I scrub that off?” This from the kid I was ready to boot out the door a few months ago because of his horrible attitude.

Having our D receive her college diploma in the mail AND finding a doctor who will work with her to treat her underlying condition! YIPPEE! Here’s to an even better 2014!

A reason to go to Europe often? I am hoping to have that dilemma next year. But not for singing. We are hoping for something wonderful, in that regard for 2014.

Thank you all so much for participating. I feel like I know some of you and your families, so it is very exciting to hear these things.

I volunteer with first generation college students helping them through the application process. One of the seniors I work with got into a NESCAC school EDI with an outstanding financial aid package. He has an awful family life and needed to get away. Based on his school’s profile, he’ll likely be the only student in three years to go out of state.

Whenhen---- FABULOUS. Life changing for that student and for you!!

DS11 got an excellent paid summer internship offer. I got a new job which has greatly refreshed by work life . Beloved MIL made it through a second year of treatment for pancreatic cancer with spirit undiminished.

Two moments:

My husband tearing up as he said his vows.

My boss telling me I had “raised the bar” after my master’s proposal. Obviously not as good as the first, but very happy still.

I hope that next year my two memories will be getting my master’s degree and my husband getting a good job. That’d be nice!

When 2013 turned into 2014.
