Happy Things Thread

With so many stressful and negative things going on, I want a happy thread, so I’m starting one.

Today, we went to the CPA and signed our tax forms. We are getting a refund – WOOT instead of paying because we prepaid too much! This means we don’t have to pay with the return–was expecting to have to include a check for our state and fed return.

Also, found a fun new restaurant and made our waitessses day by giving her a $10 cash tip on $20 charge.

There are finally leaves on the trees again where I live – as of around yesterday.

They’re little tiny light-green starter-kit leaves, but they’re here.

I always miss the leaves in the winter, and I’m always delighted when they appear again.

My S and fiancé came to visit. We went for a hike and then out to dinner for my birthday. So fun when we don’t get to see them much

Flowers, birds, buds on trees: spring has sprung!

Just by happenstance, literally all of my dog’s favorite people are staying at my house this weekend. She is so happy, she can’t contain herself. She keeps running up and down the stairs and from room to room to see everyone.

We also found a terrific new, local Asian restaurant. Definitely will go back…and recommending to everyone we know.

Also…a new chocolate shop opened. Going there tomorrow for Easter candy!

I had lunch today with D and techson17 near my office. Then she took him for his first real (i.e., not done by dad) haircut. D doesn’t live at home, so it’s a treat to see her.

I like every one of these responses! They make me happy. Also, my lilac bush is budding away! It’s now about 15 years old, I rescued it one year, from mildew, with a home remedy, so I’m always happy to see it thriving.

And a stick I stuck in a pot last year and forgot about, is slso going gangbusters (Also lilac, both around $2.99 at a discount store, those iffy looking boxes that look like a milk carton.)

We helped a bunch of cub scouts with a service project, and I was reminded how really terrific little boys are, and how great DH is with them.

Also, asparagus is up. S2’s fiancee got a great internship. My niece is expecting which brings the extended family baby count this spring to…5! Looking forward to Christmas with 7 kids under 3 y.o.

April the giraffe is giving birth right now!
I have not been able to sleep all night and now know why

D is home for the weekend and I had a lovely dinner with her and younger D. How nice it is to just hang out with them, talk about nothing and everything, and quietly laugh about the weird waiter.

I am falling in love with redbuds again. They are amazing planted in group against new green leaves.

Bumping this one.

Yesterday, my niece and her BF stopped by and visited with us for a bit. Fortunately, we had just bought and chilled a 4-pack of ginger beer (basically ginger soda), which we all enjoyed. It’s fun that the BF only lives a few houses down and they visit us even tho our kids are 1000s of miles away.

DS18 is taking his GF to her senior prom! I’m so excited! He swore he never go to a dance, he even agreed to wear a tux and everything!

It is great to be able to watch events online. I’m currently watching DS15 perform with his orchestra 500 miles away.

Happy dog update 2:
It’s 80 degrees today so we pulled out the dog’s baby pool for the first time this year. She is a hardcore water dog and she was so happy to have her pool back. She kept running in and out and then would run to people, we think, to “tell” them that her pool was out and then would run back into the pool and splash around.

She’s now zonked out next to me while I avoid working on my finals…

@romanigypsyeyes ,I’m happy to hear about your happy dog!

H and I are spending the weekend visiting S who is in grad school. First visit ( although we used to live in the area long ago). He is SO unbelievably happy here. Makes me want to burst with pride and cry tears of joy at the same time.

Tax season is over (at least for a little while) so I have my H back - just in time to enjoy this glorious Spring weather. And after a serious health scare, my Dad has recovered and coming to visit this week.
