Harvard Class of 2021 RD Thread

So True! When my son was accepted EA Dec.2016, it was so CRAZY! The portal didnt state CONGRATULATIONS, it actually stated To Accepted click here!?? something of that sort! Be patient and PRAY… What GOD has planned for your college decision, it will happen. Good Luck!

@Georgia101 Same. I was proactive. I submitted a letter of continued interest. I got the head of the MIT/Harvard Air Fort ROTC department to “advocate” for my admission. I also got a captain, Astrophysics assistant professor, and head recruiter at the MIT Air Force department to “advocate” for my admission. They both contacted me through the Air Force ROTC scholarship for which I received a Type 2 scholarship recently.

I remember the head of the department asked me why I applied to only Harvard and not MIT too. In hindsight, I should’ve applied to MIT… Oops.

:-?

Someone please tell me I’m not the only one crying myself to sleep waiting on Ivy Day and Stanford (Friday)…?

@TheShortSon AFROTC for Harvard too. applied scea got deferred with a type 1. Good Luck!!

@Travisafb Wow! Congrats! I was deferred SCEA Harvard as well. Did you update all your colleges on receiving the scholarship? I did not.

Not expecting much… but my mom is an alum and works for admissions as an interviewer. And she went to high school with the dean of admissions so their acquaintances lmao. Also got an architecture prof to support my app but who knows what’ll happen since it’s Harvard…

Oops sorry -didn’t write that it’s my daughter who applied. She received the type 1 at first board in November. Visited the Det in October. So yes all colleges know about the scholarship. I have a question and will message you:)

do most deferred students update their portals? (with letters of recommendation, continued interest etc) or not a lot?

@wherewillibe2021 it’s good to update your info upon deferral to indicate that you’re still interested, be that through activity updates or a letter of continued interest or an arts supplement or whatever else can help get you over that fence they’ve put you on. but if you didn’t don’t worry about it – the agony ends tomorrow.

@nervous17yearold do you think most deferred students update?

“I hope you don’t get in anywhere so that I can start to save for my retirement!”

Guys, I am an international applicant from India and just noticed that my teachers didnt submit the recommendations and transcript till 17th of March. Do you think that those documents would have been evaluated?

@seveneleven711, If there were any missing documents or additional factors that admissions needed to make your decision, they would have contacted you. The fact that they did not contact or fuss about it before March 17th indicates either you were the last evaluated or it was a very easy decision.

They did mail me about it but my counselor sent in the transcript as soon as my mid-term examinations ended which is the date mentioned.

@seveneleven711 I don’t mean to be rude, but why didn’t you check the portal regularly after you applied to see if you were missing any of those documents? Had you done that maybe you would have realized a lot sooner, contacted your teachers about it and avoided any bad impact on your application. It’s not their responsibility to let you know what you are missing, it’s yours. I don’t understand why people would NOT be active about something and then complain if a problem happens. Sorry if I sounded harsh, but this is my perspective on it. Good luck anyways. No use of speculating whether this blew your chances or not now. Hope you get good news.

@Kimo212 Thank you so much for your honest opinion. Firstly, I do not blame this on anyone sorry if so was conveyed and I was checking the portal actively, but since the examinations had not been conducted till then it was impossible to have sent the documents. I am just hoping for the best now.

Happy ivy day everyone! Best of luck tonight, to all
~deep breaths~ lol

I just called admissions this morning. S noticed on his portal that he had a big red “X” beside his mid-year report on the Application Checklist. The person in admissions said that they did receive his mid-year reports in Feb and if anything was needed for application purposes they would have emailed, called and done everything to get in touch with the applicant. Hope this helps allay your concerns. Sure he should have checked the portal sooner but clearly it wouldn’t have made a difference since the portal was inaccurate.

Good luck everyone!
