@Amacord Why are you bummed when your Son was accepted into His 1st choice school? Stanford has a lower acceptance rate than Harvard. You should be proud of your son instead of bummed about your bragging rights.
Can someone please explain how housing works at Harvard?
Freshmen are assigned to roommates and dorms, most of which are in Harvard Yard. In March of freshmen year (on Housing Day, right before spring break starts), students are assigned to one of 13 houses, with the roommates and/or block mates they have chosen. The houses are located near the Charles River and at the Radcliffe Quad. Block mates are students with whom you may not be sharing a dorm room or suite, but are people you want to be in your same house.
Thanks for the info @EastGrad, so for freshmen year do we apply for dorms or is it randomly assigned?
Well, it’s not random, but you have no choice in which dorm you will be living. 
The Freshman Dean’s Office will assign roommates/dorms based upon your housing questionnaire.
@Peggy1897 Vandy not Notre Dame?! You’re breakin’ my heart! Didn’t I see you’re going to Reilly weekend? Don’t enroll at Vandy before you go!
@Amacord Why be on the waitlist if he’s not going to go? You’re wasting the time of the admissions officer and potentially taking a chance from someone for whom Harvard was their first choice.

@4X529s I am going to Reilly’s! And I am super excited to go! I haven’t enrolled yet, but I felt really at home at Vandy. However, it’s the only college I have visited so far so I really have nothing to compare it to. It’s a hard choice to make (and now I can add Northwestern into the mix!) and I’m pretty sure Reilly’s is going to make it even more difficult. But I feel extremely blessed to have such amazing options 
Is there any way to get a travel grant to visit Harvard for lower-income students?
@APersonsHistory Yes! You should have gotten an email offering travel assistance through the school’s travel management provider
Is anyone here a Waitlisted applicant? Did any of you receive a link to some waitlist portal? If so, would you be able to post it? I did not receive an email confirmation and thus do not have the link.
