@Indicud98 I did not get that email, But I got an email about Financial Aid.
@Soheils Congrats on your acceptance. From my point of view: if anyone on this thread deserves it, it’s you!
@goldenmaster Thank you May I ask why?
I would not say that. Many, like you, schroscat, Karakoram and Sajidur -among others- deserved to be accepted, and I hope that they/you receive good news in March.
@Soheils From the limited perspective I have behind my computer you, but also schroscat, Sajidur, etc., seem to be very sympathetic, but also demonstrate a huge general knowledge.
For that reason I’m happy you got in.
Concerning @schroscat: I think it’s your standarized test scores that kept you out. (2130 SAT and 31 ACT)
idk honestly I have this irrational fear that Harvard sent out false acceptance letters. That doesn’t mean I don’t think I should’ve gotten in…I just want to feel more certain.
@Indicud98 I had that ridiculous fear too, but when I called the Mid-East officer to ask about something else, She personally congratulated me on my acceptance and my fear was put to rest.
@goldenmaster Thank you, I appreciate that.
Should I be worried that I haven’t gotten any email, not even the one that was supposed to tell me that my portal had been updated?
@ZAPrez nah you shouldn’t be. I haven’t heard of any cases Harvard where Harvard has sent out false acceptance letters, but it happens pretty much every year with others. It even happened with MIT.
@indicud98 Thank you. I would assume that since my request to join the group was approved then it’s legit?
@Soheils Thanks for the wise words.
@ZAPrez What group would that be? I am sure your acceptance is legit regardless!
@Indicud98 The Facebook group - Harvard Class of 2020
@goldenmaster So should I retake the SAT?
@schroscat I wouldn’t say I am in any position to judge that, but consider that your SAT places you in the bottom 25% for admitted students and your ACT is below the bottom 25%. Then you decide!
Has anyone else had their interviewer call to congratulate them?
I completely zoned out after the deferral and barely posted on the thread. Do we have a deferred thread?
@schroscat don’t retake it. Just work on other applications. You did your best with the testing, and a 50-100 point increase won’t change anything. The dean of Harvard said :
“With the SAT, small differences of 50 or 100 points or more have no significant effect on admissions decisions. Standardized tests are most useful to us in the decision-making process when they are extremely high or low—and even then many other factors come into play.”
From what I read, you have an awesome story and cause. If not Harvard, you’ll get into another awesome college!
Update: I am forced to retake the SAT. So there’s that.
@schroscat In that case, I wish you receive your desired score!!
@Sajidur4 Thanks! I guess I’ll have to study this time around…
