@schroscat Teachers can be cool too!! I totally agree with you
@Soheils How does college admissions work in Iran? Is there a comprehensive exam administered at the end of senior year to determine who can pursue which degree?
@Soheils Had to do some googling on NODET. How big is your graduating class?
@giraffeinatree I’m so lucky because all of my teachers have been great throughout my years in school.
do you guys think being on homecoming court will mean anything? i have like no major awards so i just put it there, lol.
@james1998iq I would say it could serve as a plus if they consider it as a “hey, this kid is social” kind of thing
@schroscat your GPA is 35% of your overall index, the concour compromises the rest. Any awards and special things are then factored as coefficients of your index. You then choose a number of colleges with priorities. They then use your index to assign you.
@giraffeinatree 150, 75 in engineering and math track, 75 in medicine and life science track.
@Soheils Is there a ranking system–i.e. similar to Turkey where a student is competing for college acceptance strictly by his/her ranking in the nation–that is factored into the index?
@james1998iq If I had gotten on homecoming court, you bet your ass I would put it on my app! haha the way I see it it doesn’t show popularity but rather your social nature and your kindness towards others.
Any other schools you guys love?
@tuty143 Northeastern, BU, Columbia, BC, Tufts, Yale, Stony Brook, and NYU!
@schroscat nice!
@tuty143 my top 2 are easily harvard and UMich. They have completely different atmospheres but I love both of them. Cornell has great scenery, but I hated Ithaca.
ugh dead thread. probably because its late
I’ve fallen deatlly ill (aka I got a cold) because I haven’t slept well in the past week (yay stress!) and my immune system sucks because of it!!! I love life!!!
@james1998iq I thought about Cornell but when I found out it was in like rural New York (not really but you know what I mean) I knew I could never go there.
@schroscat that sucks! I have the SAT tomorrow so I should be asleep right now (almost 11) but I can’t.
@tuty143 Yeah. It’s seriously in the middle of nowhere, and I felt like I would feel really detached there
@tuty143 Go to sleep!! @james1998iq I feel similarly about Yale; it has a BEAUTIFUL campus, just in the middle of nowhere. New Haven is lovely, just a little…tiny and lacking energy. It just might have been the day I visited.
@james1998iq I felt the same about Dartmouth. My brother visited and apparently the first thing they said is that “the suicide rate is not as high as people would have you think”…WHY EVEN MENTION THE SUICIDE RATE AT ALL?! IS THAT A PROBLEM THERE!!!
