Harvard Transfer Thread?

I agree w/ Everax that we would have a better chance of getting in if we had applied to Harvard out of high school. I just cannot help but think if Harvard accepted 75 people this year, would I be one of the 35 others to get in?

i really wish i knew how many people were on the waitlist.

i really wonder, is it like yale, which from what i hear is only around 10 people, or are there 100 of us on this thing?

i guess we all will be, lol

what do you guys think about the situation of next year ? are they gonna halve it again ? so that means they will accept only 20 or less people…

I wish Harvard would just tell us how many are on the WL. They told us 40 got accepted and ~1100 total applied … why not just tell us so we can to ease our nerves or to help us make a more informed decision regarding whether or not to remain on the waitlist

I think it will stay at around this new level.
Everax - Do you think Harvard will go the Princeton route and eventually not accept any Transfers?

they asked you to fill a form and return it to them, right ? what was the form about ?

I didn’t get it yet … that will come in the mail at some point with the official admissions letter… i think the form will be to say if you wish to stay on the WL

that’s what i m thinking. Because their final intention seems to be that they’ll drop this transfer thing, and make the freshman as “happy” as possible…

I wish i were still in the high school now, lol

On the other hand, accepting more Transfers allows them to be more selective (AKA lower acceptance rates) w freshmen admissions … I honestly think they love to reject people

i once thought that Harvard was quiet different from MIT,Yale, etc. Because i believed harvard paid more attention to a student’s inner thoughts and personality. Now, i guess i was wrong… thoughts ?

i don’t believe that harvard will phase out transfers.
if anything, I think that Princeton has the intention of eventually reintroducing their transfer program - there have been major changes in the princeton admissions office since Hargadon’s (did I spell that right?) replacement with Raplye

from what I have heard I think transferapp07 is correct about this one

I always thought it would be cool if Princeton accepted 1 transfer student … how crazy that would be … select 1 out of 1000 applicants … it would be such an honor to be the chosen one …

actually, princeton does accept transfers,

it’s not through a formal program or anything, but every now and then they do solicit an athletic recruit that will enter princeton from a different college and with sophomore status

Question asked about what my parents think:

They feel like I do - definite pros and cons to each decision. My guess is they would probably want me to go, but they aren’t pushing for Harvard or anything.

Regarding when I need to decide, I don’t know. It didn’t say in the email, and my package or letter or whatever has not yet come in the mail. I hope not for a few weeks…

Hey tmasta can you PM me your essays

I’d love to see them as well :)

the “chosen” one… hahahha.
