Ugh, I know, I’m sorry. Still, have there been any acceptances reported besides the two that have already been mentioned on this thread? I guess it makes sense that only one person on CC would get in, but I don’t want to believe that, so I’m fishing for a better explanation.

I concur, Fatum. I am hesitant to express this because I don’t want anyone to take it the wrong way, but the two reported acceptances seemed just slightly off to me. Maybe not Cypriot’s so much, although it does seem weird that he has not returned since his initial posting, but the other one was strange. I am fully aware that I am just grasping for straws at this point, but…opinions?

I was waitlisted like everyone else and thought my chances were nil after I read the Harvard Gazette article on Thursday morning. Then my adcom rep called me at home after school to offer me a place in the class of 2016 and said they would follow up with an email next week.

From everything I’ve read and heard, it seems that the bulk of the waitlist decisions will go out next week (Tuesday thru Thursday?), though I don’t know this for sure. My understanding is that those who are accepted receive a phone call first.

Again, good luck to all and please remember how truly special you are. You will shine no matter what happens!

That would make sense, because the z-list responses would probably impact the number of wait list positions that are available when the ‘official’ word goes out next week. But let me add that I personally know of two current Harvard students who received their z-list calls over the summer.

Sorry for being cryptic if I seem that way, haha. I guess I’m still a bit freaked out about it and afraid they’ll find some reason to rescind the offer.

To clarify, I wasn’t z-listed and I don’t have legacy. I honestly did not know what the z-list was until two or three days ago, and I’m not sure I get the point what’s to say next year’s application pool isn’t as strong as this one? Lopping off a chunk of this year’s application pool and tacking it onto the next only leaves less room for next year. But eh… whatever, I suppose.

Good luck to you all, as it seems that Harvard might still be sending out acceptances?

A z-list makes sense – the main impact will be to diminish or eliminate openings for transfer students hoping to fill slots opened up through attritted from the classes of 2015 and 2014. This shows that they’d rather have students there for four years rather than three…

I know of a z-lister from a few years back who got a call toward the end of June saying, ‘never mind waiting a year, you can start this August if you want’. And she did. I think there are a lot of micro-adjustments made well into the summer.

A friend of mine was Z-listed yesterday too.
His dad is a big time professor at the JFK school though, so it was a bigger surprise that he didn’t get in regular.

And if they’re already making z-list calls, does that mean that they already called the 10-15 kids who got in off the waitlist this year? It seems like they would do that first to see if those kids would go or if they would say no thanks and free up a spot for one of those z-listers.

and when they say the bulk of decisions will go out next week, is that just rejections? Are they all done deciding and calling everyone?
