did that person get no phone call before the e-mail came?

Granted, I talked to him about two weeks ago about an event that had happened almost a year before, but he said that he received an email and made no mention of a call.

I just called Admissions. I was also told decisions were coming out TODAY — after 5:00. They may have made some calls already and will do their best to call all admitted. If you don’t get an email rejection (or admitted) or a call (or a letter later this week admitting you), you are likely being held for a 2nd round. I didn’t ask how many were being accepted. I hope this clarifies. It could very well be that they told @chloesong the decisions were coming out the end of the week because she called early & that’s what they thought this morning. It’s now almost COB (4:25 pm on the east coast) and maybe they managed to resolve all their issues & choose the winners for this evening’s 1st round. Anyway, good luck to all of you! I’m keeping my fingers crossed for my DS!

I feel like I’m dying slowly, along with my phone, which picked the least convenient time EVER to be almost out of charge. I’m stuck at school, wanting to call but terrified, afraid to check my email.

EDIT: I originally wrote “This is the worst”, but that’s a lie. Obviously I prefer the suspense to rejection

cmon yall, let me give up hope

Well, it looks like this is it. 5 minutes until 5:00 PM Eastern time…

If they’re only accepting 10-15 kids, I can’t imagine that they didn’t have time to call anyone. So if they’re really coming out at 5, and you didn’t get a phone call…

I did not get a phone call.

LOL I just got an email from my regional rep saying it was a “pleasure to read your application” but that “unfortunately [Harvard] is accepting very few waitlisted students this year.” I’m assuming this is a rejection, since it was sent out today and I feel like she would have not ended the email on that note were it different.

Apparently emails come after 5, so keep calm, it’s only 5! Remember how regular admissions emails were also supposed to come after 5, but some people (including admitted students) got them hours and hours later? It’s okay, Just Keep Calm and Carry On yayy! :)

Just got my rejection =(. Good luck to everyone else.

In case anyone doesn’t believe me, here’s the text:

Dear Mr. xxx

I am sorry to have to report that we will not be able to offer you admission. A high percentage of students have accepted our April offer of admission. As a result, the Admissions Committee was able to admit only a limited number of applicants from the waiting list for the Class of 2015.

Nearly thirty-five thousand students applied for admission to the entering class. In the face of such competition, the Committee’s decision to offer you a place on our waiting list was made in recognition of your outstanding achievements and was a demonstration of our confidence in your ability to make a significant contribution to your college community.

We are grateful for your patience over the past weeks. We very much appreciate the interest you have shown in Harvard and hope you will accept the best wishes of the Committee for all your future endeavors.

Sincerely,

William R. Fitzsimmons
Dean of Admissions and Financial Aid

Rejected. Here I come Lafayette! :)

Rejected…

I just got rejected too. :(

Rejected. Off to BU to stare out my window at Harvard.

Same fate…rejected…got the e-mail just now. I wish everyone else on this thread best of luck at whatever college they end up at.

lol so maybe its better NOT to get an email

Rejected…but that’s why I chose Yale! Congrats to anyone accepted!

rejected, is anyone in?

I was rejected.

rejected!!

on the bright side, (most of us) now know 100% where were going so im glad about that!
:)

Rejected, but was 99.99% sure that would happen anyway since I never sent in an update letter. Also, I blatantly reused my Chicago essay in the original application. Only reason I even applied/stayed on the waitlist was cuz my parents liked how much more aid Harvard would potentially give. Off to Chicago now! <3
