Well said. I’m a waitlisted student who is committed to another Ivy. From my knowledge of college admissions as someone who’s spoken with numerous t20 officers, worked for an international college admissions consulting company, and has an older sibling- Harvard’s level of communication is downright confusing for everyone. It is completely reasonable to expect better- and even during my conversations with one of the admissions employees who answer the phone, she acknowledged and apologized for the school’s lack of communication.
Also another unrelated thing is: My regional AO (who is early in his admissions career) has been on vacation from July to September (according to an automatic email reply) so my best guess is that all waitlist admits from now on will be case-by-case that can be managed by a smaller staff of officers than the normal 40 person team. Or perhaps each AO has already finalized shortlist backups.
Thank you for your posts. I appreciate your thoughts and insight. I’m in the exact same position as you. I hope we all get some sort of news, guidance or even an explanation e-mail from Harvard saying they can’t give us any additional information or answers would be nice. Just an acknowledgment that they understand we are waiting for information and they are still trying to figure things out would be kind.
Ultimately, this is a support group where we can all lament together, while sharing info…
That’s exactly how I feel about it. It does help to know there’s others who are concerned and yet helpless about getting clarity
yo atp just be happy if u get off but at the same time just know youre not getting off now lol
No movements today?
not that ive heard of. feel like if there was then we would’ve heard by now. i think more possible/likely for movement tmr
I saw someone on Reddit who got accepted to Harvard last week mention that they gave him until this Wednesday to make his decision because they would want to offer his spot to someone else this Friday. I have no idea if that is true or if he plans to accept or decline or why he was sure Harvard would fill that spot by this Friday, but I’m just passing along what I saw.
yeah i saw this too. i think tmr wave is very probable
If that’s the case, it would mean it’s not a big wave, but just very few spots opened up if there is any declined offer from last week, if at all.
One thing I also read somewhere (I don’t even recall where exactly) said Harvard in past years had some movement at the end of July. If that’s the case, then it wouldn’t be this week at all. (Ugh!) but closer to the very end of July.
there has been no recent updates about Harvard’s legal/visa process for its international students. Maybe there won’t be another big wave at all if it stays that way.
I just checked on Harvards International page and I did t see anything new either.
i always heard it was mid may, mid june, and then mid july. and since the waves have been a bit spread idk but mid july seems likely, no? anyone wanna call them and ask
did anyone call to ask about the next “wave”
Did they respond to your email? If so, what did they say?
harvard freshmen were given their assigned dorms today. perhaps there will be a wave once they know how many beds/rooms are empty?
i just saw ivy league roadmap on instagram post today about a student who apparently got in off of the harvard waitlist today. so maybe there were a few offered spots today
Doubt it. The guy sent him an email at 10:59, and he responded immediately?
The guy is known to be not a reliable source of info. For example, in some of his posts the sats matter, in other posts it doesn’t.
I would take anything from him with a grain of salt.
