I think it should be noted that we don’t have any proof that the deferment deadline was 7/31.
Of course it’s all speculation at this point including the deadline wasn’t 7/31.
Probably not. Look, I’m just trying to inject some reality in to the situation. Some of you seem unable to move forward with plans to attend the college you’ve committed to while waiting for any inkling of news from this school. For your own sakes, please put the notion of Harvard on the back burner. It’s not something to waste time thinking about and fretting over until it happens, if it ever does happen.
I’m already all set to go to my college but I just think it is fun to keep checking in and see what happens. I’m not at all fooling myself into thinking I’ll get accepted at this point. It’s just like when you buy a lottery ticket. The odds are stacked against you and it is ridiculous, but it’s fun to scratch off the ticket anyway.
Totally agree! I move in next week to my college, but it’s still interesting to know! Hoping we get that sooner rather than later tho lmao
I agree with this. I’m only still on the waitlist for the thrill of it. I could’ve withdrawn whenever I wanted to, but haven’t.
Well it is after 6pm Eastern Standard Time and still no news today. Maybe tomorrow???
My guess is still towards later this week.
Hi I saw your comment and wanted to ask something quickly. Do you know if it is ever possible for someone who was rejected in Regular Decision to still be reinstated this late in the process? Not someone who was waitlisted or deferred but fully rejected.
I am asking because someone I know was denied in the spring and is now apparently attending this fall. His family has strong legacy ties and might be donors. It made me wonder if things like that ever happen quietly behind the scenes at Harvard
I’ve decided to withdraw from the Harvard waitlist since I know I won’t be enrolling next year. Holding on any longer just doesn’t make sense, especially if it means delaying a decision or even taking a spot away from someone who actually wants to attend.
If you’re staying on the waitlist just for fun, please consider the impact you’ll have on students who genuinely want to enroll.
To everyone still hoping to join Harvard: I wish you the best of luck!
Thanks for your thoughtfulness and integrity.
That’s very gracious - thank you, Anand!
Ditto on this - it’s very mature of you! Out of curiosity, would you mind sharing where you decided to go?
Hello guys, I have noticed that many F1 applicants in my region have already received their visa stamps and a small portion of them are currently on the waitlist. They chose to commit to another college in the meantime while still hoping for an acceptance from Harvard. This makes things easier since they would only need to transfer their SEVIS record to Harvard and be issued a new I20 form. There is no need to get a new visa stamp. That is why in my opinion I believe there will be some movement this week or possibly the week after.Of course, take this with a heavy grain of salt.
I highly doubt what you’re saying is accurate. But in the rare case that this did happen, you probably weren’t suppossed to find out.
Is there a chance that they were lying about being rejected, or conversely, lying about going to Harvard just to mess with you?
Thank you for this interesting observation. Sorry that I don’t think I fully understand what’s going on, but could you clarify this? Are you saying those students who previously admitted by Harvard chose to commit to another US institution and intend to transfer to Harvard next year?
If I had heard it from someone else, I would have thought the same thing. But we were all together the day decisions came out. Of course it is none of my business. I was just wondering if something like that is even possible, especially since we are literally just weeks away from move-in day.
A few international students from my region, myself included, were waitlisted by Harvard earlier this year. As is common for waitlisted applicants, we each committed to other universities in the meantime to ensure we could secure a place to study this fall. However, just recently, many of us were contacted to pick up our passports, now stamped with F1 visas. This changes things significantly. If Harvard were to accept a student off the waitlist now, the logistical burden would be much lighter. Since we already hold valid visas, we would not need to start the visa process from scratch. Instead, our current universities could simply release our SEVIS records to Harvard, allowing them to issue us a new I-20 form and finalize the transfer. This makes the prospect of late waitlist movement more realistic than it may initially seem.
I see. But why you were saying there will be some movement for Harvard waitlist this or next week?
Seeing how fast visas are being issued in my area at least I would say it is likely to be within the next two weeks of course this is pure assumption since the waitlist wave is being held mainly because of the international students slow processing of visas
