<p>For marchers, have any of you participated in the Rose Parade as a part of the BOA Honor Band? I’m considering applying for the 2013 one on tenor sax, but even if I get in, it’s just such a big monetary commitment ($1600+, and that doesn’t even include the flight from Virginia and spending money). I would really love to go, and my parents would pay for it (senior year Christmas present maybe) if I was dedicated (aka, begged) enough. The price isn’t even that unwieldy if you consider it’s an 8 day trip.</p>
<p>However, I would just like some assurance that it’s not another “pay for recognition/prestige” kind of thing. Are the other musicians in it actually, well, “worthy”? And would colleges like to see that I got accepted/participated in the Rose Parade? I know it seems shallow that I care about the whole college-aspect, but that’s what determines many of the decisions I make now, unfortunately.</p>
