My friend was recently rejected by UVa. However, the other day, she said she talked to the admissions office and she said they are going to let her commute first year (since she lives in C-Ville) and take classes on the UVa campus even though she was rejected? Maybe I didn’t hear her explanation clearly of what she’s doing but has anyone heard of this happening before?

EllexInc, I haven’t heard of that exact circumstance, but I do know that it is possible to take classes through the Continuing Ed Dept at UVA without actually being a formal student in a degree program. Some of our local high school students do it, and quite a few teachers do it.

She would not have been granted degree-seeking status by my office.

She could be using the Community Scholar program to take some classes.
