Has Anyone Ever Used a Reunion Organizer?

It’s coming up on 45 years since I graduated from HS. I’m still in touch with a small group of close friends and we’d love to have a reunion. Of course none of us wants to organize it. Has anyone ever used a reunion organizer? Which one? How does one choose which one to use? Does it add a lot to the cost?

Thanks.

Bump Bump Bump

And if no one has ever used one, I guess that tells me something as well. (Although exactly what, I’m not sure!)

Veryhappy, sorry you haven’t received any replies. I saw your post yesterday but don’t know anyone who has used an organizer. I’m not sure that I even knew that that existed! Last year was my 40th and I and two classmates organized our reunion. It was a huge success, if I do say so myself. We started in Jan/Feb for an August reunion. We had a graduating class of ~800, most of whom had apparently never kept in touch with ANYone. We did a lot of networking, searching the internet, Facebook, and the lists that we had from earlier reunions. We also utilized an alumni directory that was offered for sale periodically since we graduated. I had one and so did a few other grads. We set up a Facebook page for the reunion and directed people there when we located them on Facebook. Our school had a large alumni page already set up so that helped. Classmates dot com was also a good resource. We set up an email list to keep everyone informed through those months. The three of us who were organizing all lived far from where we grew up and hence, we had a couple of local grads who did some of the footwork for us. We held it at a hotel where out of town grads could stay, at a good rate, and centered the festivities there. Smaller groups organized smaller get-togethers around the larger event. It was a lot of fun, both the organizing and the event itself. Good luck to you!

Our HS (located in NJ) hired Reunions Unlimited for many years before finally deciding to handle it personally. The reunions run by RU lacked in every area, including food, venue, music, reasonable pricing, and personal feel, but it was the easy alternative to doing it ourselves.

I would guess there are better places to hire out there, but can’t imagine why our reps didn’t use anyone else after 30 years of awful and increasingly unpopular reunions. Our last one was run by former students and it proved far better than the cookie-cutter events run by RU.
