I know there are companies that do this for a living – track down the people from the HS class; arrange the venue, the entertainment and the food; send out the invitations; track the responses; and so forth. Has anyone ever used one of them? Which one? How did that work out??

(Coming up on – gulp – 45 next year. My sister is going to her – gulp – 50th in a month!)

Bump.

No one??

Then how did you handle your HS reunion?? Reunions don’t organize themselves, you know!

Yes- we are having our 40th in October and using MyPunchbowl. I think it’s working pretty well. I’m not the one who initiated the setup, but I am an organizer.

Recently had my 40th and three of us organized all of it, with the assistance of a couple of people who were still in the area. The three of us who did most of the work were at a distance, too, the closest being 500 miles from the reunion site. We used the Alumni Directory for our school, classmates.com and Facebook to track everyone down. We had a good turnout and everyone had a great time! We set up a site on myevent.com to organize everyone, handle ticket purchases and RSVPs, etc.

My wife is going through hers in a month in the USA. The planning of it is daunting. Their classmates of about 1500 are spreaded out worldwide, so the organizing committee had two major events, one in Los Angeles and the other in Taipei. They have number of local area coordinators. The coodinators use skype to discuss event details and each region had their own pre-reunion gatherings to beef up the attendents in the two major events (in the SF Bay Area, for example, they have identified 70 and 35 was at the pre-reunion event). The LA reunion event will be two nights and three days, costing at least $1,000 to attend, including the flights, hotels and the $300 event price tag alone. People from as far away as Shanghai are attending. Some attendees come with spouses and children, so the reunion committee has to have activities for those related parties as well.

^^^Wow to that one. Mine won’t be quite so complicated.
