Has anyone taken AP Calc AB or AP Chem as an independent study?

<p>I found out today that I can’t fit both classes in my senior schedule. If anyone has taken either of these classes as an independent study please let me know how it went and how much more difficult you believe it was than if you had taken a formal class.</p>

<p>If you’ve taken honors chem already, studying ap chem shouldnt’ be too hard. My school has had two kids take the ap exam out of just honors chem and they both got 3s. Not amazing, but still passing.</p>

<p>I learned Calc BC over this summer, and I was still able to maintain a very healthy social life and have a lot of free time. Then again, that’s learning BC after a year of AB. Going from precalc to AB won’t be nearly as easy. Chem won’t be that bad, though, as long as you work really hard, have a strong foundation in chemistry, and use the right resources.</p>

<p>As for a textbook, I’m not sure. But Petersons prep book is amazing, especially for independent study, and using it alongside pretty much any full text (to be used mainly for practice problems) should do the trick.</p>

AFAIK, universities only accept 4s or 5s.</p>

<p>Barron’s is good for calc.</p>

<p>Depends. My friend is going to UMBC, which admittedly may not be the <em>best</em> school ever, (on a full scholarship though! :D) but I believe they take credit for 3’s on certain AP exams. </p>

<p>I used princeton one also but it was REALLY hard differentiating the BC material from the AB - (esp since I was selfstudying and all)</p>
