Has phone etiquette changed that much?

I love e-mail. It leaves you with a written record of what was said that you can refer back to when you’ve forgotten all the details (like five minutes later, maybe).

Of course, this means I’m showing my age. Have you ever seen the blog How Not To Act Old? #30 on their list of 160 things you should do to avoid acting old is “Stop Using Email.”

I get so few voicemails at the office that on the rare occasion when one arrives, I have to look up the procedure for accessing it.

We have a landline but no one answers it but me. I spent years dropping everything and running for the phone (remember that?) so I guess its ingrained. However with the judicious use of Caller ID I have found that not answering gives a much better result than asking to be put on the “do not call list”. The annoying calls have dwindled down to a trickle.
