<p>Here in SE Michigan we have maybe 10-20% of the leaves down. Usually by Halloween we are close to 90%. At this rate, I’ll be raking leaves on Christmas Eve.</p>
<p>Just hope you don’t get snow before they are mostly down. In 2011 we had a major snowstorm just before Halloween with the leaves still on the trees. That storm left most of Connecticut out of power for up to two weeks!</p>
<p>If leaves are falling it’s not because the seasons are changing…</p>
<p>Not far from you UMDad in NW Ohio - I think that is going to change in the next 24 hours with the predicted winds…though true that majority of our trees - especially our 75+ year old beech tree (who are generally late with falling leaves) are still mostly green. Our female ginko tree, however, is in full force dropping the stinky fruit…</p>
<p>I think they are a bit behind this year, but it has been a very warm Fall. Our oak and silver maples are always late dropping their leaves, but there are enough on the ground that we have to rake before cutting the grass every weekend, especially with the stupid white pine needles that fall all over! We are in SW PA.</p>
<p>Our trees have been turning later each year. The maple in front used to turn at the very beginning of September but now turns at the beginning of October. The dogwoods are red but have all their leaves. The apple and cherry trees are not half turned. The oaks are mostly green but it’s hard to tell with them because they hold varying amounts of leaves year to year. </p>
<p>Even the hostas didn’t die all the way back yet.</p>
<p>The leaves are staying on the trees in SE Michigan so I can get my Fall themed outdoor engagement pictures this weekend.</p>
<p>If the storms today ruin that I will be SO MAD.</p>
<p>I’m in upstate NY and all of the leaves on some of my trees have fallen and some of my trees haven’t even started turning yet. We are always still raking on Thanksgiving.</p>
<p>Leaves are still on trees here in central Florida. No hurricanes so far this year thankfully… so trees are still in ground too. We only have three seasons here: hot; hotter; hottest.</p>
<p>Interestingly, the leaves have fallen from our really huge old maples and other large trees, but are still clinging to the small trees and saplings. (Maine)</p>
<p>Northern Lower Michigan. We are past peak, leaves are still on maybe 20% of the trees. Hard to say as we have lots of pines. Will have to do one more leaf clean up. Don’t know if that will happen this weekend or next but we are pretty done.</p>
<p>We had snow last week. Not much but some lake effect. It’s going to be cold but no snow I think. Hope. Lol!</p>
<p>Lots of leaves still on the trees. This varies from year to year. A number of years ago, we had a year when the leaves hung on so long that it looked funny when Christmas decorations went up.</p>
<p>It depends upon the type of tree. The walnut trees here in Southern Indiana kept their leaves later this year, but they are all gone now. The rest have fallen to about 60% in the last 24 hours, especially with the wind and rain today.</p>
<p>My mom’s house is surrounded by 4 huge swamp maple trees. The trees still have some leaves in December. (Southwest CT). I’ve raked leaves in the snow. I hate those trees!</p>
<p>It’s still beautiful here on the shoreline in Connecticut. Last weekend, I drove up to Burlington, Vermont, for a conference, and could see several “zones” of leafiness…definitely post-peak in Burlington (heck, it snowed!), just post peak in southern Vermont and Massachusetts, peak in central CT. And yes, I’ve raked in the snow as well!</p>
<p>we are probably at about peak, or just past, here in central Iowa. My D is a Junior at Tulane and hadn’t seen fall colors since 2010, the fall of her HS senior year. She was home a couple of weeks ago to run her first marathon, and was just enjoying all of the colors. I remember thinking that normally the trees would be a lot emptier at this point. I was glad she could see them.</p>
<p>Chicago area here… usually by Halloween we’re raking up the last of the leaves and putting them at the curb (we have leaf pick up). This year I have one tree (Hawthorn) that hasn’t even started to turn yet! And while most burning bushes around here are bright red, my six are green as the summer. I have a feeling next spring is going to have a lot of clean up! I think the rest of the area is about at full peak right now, about a couple of weeks later than usual.</p>
<p>This thread reminded me of the Family Guy episode called “Lethal Weapons” about how Quahog is invaded by obnoxious “leaf peepers” from New York every year when the leaves change color.</p>
<p>What a difference a week means. Heck, even a day! I blew leaves on Tuesday, not too bad. Today woke up and the yard was COVERED! Probably getting closer to 50% gone now.</p>
<p>I have a busy raking weekend ahead of me. In the last week the leaves have really started to come down. Silver Maple - 60% down. Magnolia - 10% down. Oak - 25% down. Still a lot to fall here in SE Michigan.</p>
