Have you hesitated to update to ios 26?

I consider myself tech savvy, and usually update my iphone and Macbook within weeks of the update being released. I like to wait just a bit to hear all the rumblings from others!

I have been dragging my feet on ios 26, but feel like I need to bite the bullet and update my iPhone 15 Pro Max. I think I can survive all the changes, but curious what real people (our CC family) think of the updates. If you updated, are you sorry, or have you embraced the changes?

I updated, although I put it off for a while. I have had no issues. I am honestly not noticing big differences in anything I do or use. I have an IPhone 12.

Another iPhone 12 user. No issues so far other than the annoying “glass.”

Mine updated on its own when I was overseas in Europe! I was not pleased. Usually I have a choice in the matter, but I woke up and it was done.

I also didn’t get a choice upgrading to 26.3. I kept putting it off, and then one day at work it told me it would either update now or in 10 minutes and gave me a countdown timer. My coworker’s phone did the same thing the same day. That update didn’t seem to change much, but I hate them. They rarely seem to improve anything.

I have an iPhone 16 pro

I have not updated, and will resist as long as I can. 26 is supposed to be really terrible.

I resisted updating, but my phone started doing weird things. For example, CC wasn’t working properly for me. After updating, I didn’t have the glitchiness I had been experiencing.

I was resisting for a long time, too. Then my employer pushed the update on my work phone. It isn’t bad. Some things got shuffled around but for most part it’s not that different. I since updated my personal phone, too.

Barely noticed a difference and it fixes some security issues so it’s good tp get done.

I have learned the hard way to wait until the 0.3 issue of the new iOS, which was just released. I will update soon. Friends have told me iPhone battery life is worse on iOS 26.

Same here - the description made it sound like it was a whole new world, but I saw very little difference. One thing - I had a shortcut set up to “silence unknown callers” and the way that’s handled changed slightly.

The first release of iOS 26 was pretty horrible. You can read about it online (the “Liquid Glass” interface is among Apple’s worst ideas).

Thanks to the large volume of complaints from disgruntled customers, subsequent patch releases gave users ways to dial back the transparency and made many of the new features optional.

So if you updated to one of the later versions like 26.2, you’re seeing a toned down version — which is why it might not look all that bad.

There are still several other bugs though, which is why I’m not upgrading just yet. I know I’ll have to at some point.

I know all the settings that can be changed to lessen the liquid glass look, as well as other tips and tricks. My mother’s iphone SE was set to not auto update, but I think when the update message came up, she must have selected update without knowing. Luckily I was able to fix her settings without her noticing the changes!

I will be home all day Thursday, so might update then, so I have time to play with the update and settings.

My updates are current. I have no idea what this “glass” issue is. I don’t see it. The most notable thing I have seen is that my search functions have been relocated to the bottom of screens from the top.

Really…no big change. My iPad and my phone are 2020 models…

Just purchased a new (to me) renewed premium iPhone 14 (1 yr. guarantee against defects). It seems new, and even shows 100% battery life. BUT - when it was activated to my carrier, it automatically installed ios v. 26.0. First long incoming phone call kept dropping every 2-3 minutes. Now I don’t know if it is a faulty phone - or v.26. Web search indicates some users w/ v. 26 having similar problems, so I guess I’ll wait another week before starting a return process?

It could be iOS 26. It has many issues, not all of which are well documented.

For example, my wife’s phone (which she unfortunately updated to iOS 26) sometimes has no data connection, even though it shows a full four bars of LTE or 5G connectivity.

Same phone, same carrier, same location - different behavior after updating.
