<p>I am off today and caught a movie I had never seen and it was absolutely heart wrenching and gut wrenching. “The Boy In the Striped Pajamas”.
What movies have moved you emotionally?</p>
<p>V for Vendetta. I can just see how governments are actually becoming more like that the one in the movie. The scene with the flashbacks to the woman and Ruth…agh no spoilers. The whole thing is pretty violent, and not a traditional “i cried my eyes out” movie, but I loved it. The ending was great.</p>
<p>When I was very young, I always used to cry when watching the movie ‘Fluke’. I haven’t seen it in many years.</p>
<p>The one where Shirley McClaine dies of cancer.</p>
<p>“Schindler’s List.” The part where the young civil engineer (a woman) tells the crew constructing a building that they need to tear something out and do it again. The guard kills her, then tells the crew to do exactly as she said. I’m a female civil engineer myself, and that was like a punch in the chest.</p>
<p>The movie where Jennifer Aniston’s dog dies (Marley & Me), the movie where Rose’s Jack dies (Titanic), and when I was a young child, the movie where a mother is killed (Bambi) and the movie where a young boy sees his father die (Champ).</p>

<p>“Tears of Endurement” </p>
<p>Oops, I mean “Terms of Endearment.” And assuming that’s the movie you meant and not some other movie, it was actually Shirley’s daughter played by Debra Winger who died of cancer.</p>
<p>Kajon, do you mean Debra Winger (as Shirley McLaine’s daughter in Terms of Endearment)?</p>
<p>I saw “Boy in the Striped Pajamas” on a plane one time. How ironic that their boy meant so very much to them, while all the others were disposable.</p>
<p>I would add Ordinary People and Sophie’s Choice.</p>
<p>Sophie’s Choice. That one will kill you.</p>
<p>I tend to cry at “feel good movies” though, for some reason.</p>
<p>What about Stepmom, with Julia Roberts, Susan Sarandon and Ed Harris, that is such a tearjerker.</p>
<p>Yeah, a dying Debra Winger saying goodbye to her kids in Terms of Endearment and a dying Debra Winger saying goodbye to her kids in Shadowlands.</p>
<p>When I saw ET in the theatre in 1982, I was still sobbing when the credits were over and the lights came up. I haven’t watched it since.</p>
<p>Also, Toy Story 3. It hit when when we had a college freshman and a HS junior. Just reading the plot summary made me cry. Before he saw the movie, H was looking through a Toy Story 3 coloring book at the grocery store and got teary eyed.</p>
<p>Do all guys cry during Field of Dreams?</p>
<p>Just about every movie. Special nod to the original Imitation of Life.</p>
<p>Shadowlands with Anthony Hopkins and Debra Winger. Places in the Heart.</p>
<p>I cry every single time I see certain scenes in those movies, and also of course when Debra Winger dies in Terms of Endearment.</p>
<p>missypie - My little brother was right at the point where he and his friends were preparing for leaving for college when Toy Story 3 came out. They all went to see it and he said that several of his (male) friends were crying in the theater. My little brother and I loved Toy Story - he even dressed as Woody one year for Halloween. </p>
<p>Schindler’s List got me at the very end. Showing the real survivors at the time the film was made made it hit home to me that it was real and not just a movie. </p>
<p>And I can’t be the only one who cries during the opening part of Up, can I?</p>
<p>Last year, D went on a school trip that included a visit to Normandy. I kept meaning to have her watch Saving Private Ryan, but we ran out of time. I had her watch the first scene, and before she left the room to pack, I gave her a 2 minute summary of the rest of the movie…just hearing the summary made her cry.</p>
<p>I thought of another…in Fiddler on the Roof, when the daughter is singing How Can I Hope to Make You Understand, before getting on the train to Siberia…the flashbacks of her as a young girl with Tevye…I could cry right now.</p>

<p>I don’t. A few movies have made me mist up a bit, but the first and so far and only movie that made me openly cry was Old Yeller. I was five years old.</p>

<p>I’ve only seen Up twice, it’s the part where he looks through the scrapbook that does it to me.</p>
<p>Oh, and Baby Mine in Dumbo, where they are holding trunks through the bars.</p>

<p>I waited to see it until it was out on DVD and I could watch it at home…I was afraid I would embarass myself at the theatre. When Son watched it with us, he pointed out the place where the kids start to cry and the place where the adults start to cry.</p>
<p>Has anyone else here seen ‘Fluke’?</p>

<p>Remember in Sleepless in Seattle where the two women are talking about the end of An Affair to Remember and they start crying, so the guys start talking about the end of - um, was it Von Ryan’s Express and they pretend to cry?</p>
<p>Million Dollar Baby makes men sob uncontrollably</p>
<p>When we went to see it in the theater, nobody could leave because nobody knew what to do because all the grown men were crying. We all kind of sat there while they pulled it together and then walked out silently. </p>
<p>Clint Eastwood knows how to make men cry.</p>
