HELLP...about college choice

I am a Chinese high school senior under the A-level exam systerm and have already got straight As in all of my As-level subjects and an A in A-level Math, all the other A-level exams will come next year in Jun. But as an international student I am really not a good english reader and got only 1880 in my SAT with 500Reading 750Math 630Writing and 11Essay, would anybody just please give me some suggestions of which colleges to apply to?? Please~~~

oh, by the way I am also runing a students club now and am working in the student union as an organizer would that help to increase my chance of getting in any of those top universities?

well i guess your sat scores are just a bit low…but then again your EC come into play…since you have been getting A all round…that helps a mighty deal…u can have one more shot at the SAT…and if u get above 2000 then i think u will have a pretty good shout…considering that u have enough EC to back it up…

but I don’t really think retake would be any helpful any more since the only time I could take it is Jan. but then it would pass most of the college’s application deadlines. what should I do

well it can help…u can contact the colleges and describe your situation…most often than not they will oblige…

Btw,henry,in which field do u want to major in?

economics or finace, or humanities if there r no good ones for me in those majors

I think ur requird to take SAT 2…isnt it?..if yes…then go ahead man…blast it…it will tell that u hav masterd(uptil now) what u hav learnt…!!..

any specific regions your thinkin of? just US schools?

the main thing is, are you applying for fin aid ?
If you are applying for fin aid, then you NEED to retake the SAT.

A 500 reading score is too low and you should definitely try to improve it. Critical reading and writing skills are important for college admission given that university classes in the US are normally taught in English only and adequate verbal abilities are necessary for success in your coursework. Keep in mind though that most colleges KNOW that international students whose native language is not English (especially Asians) are at a disadvantage in the critical reading and writing sections of the SAT, and take that into consideration accordingly. Most likely, a comparatively low score in the reading and writing sections of the SAT (provided you don’t blow it with a 500 for example) won’t matter that much if you do really well on the TOEFL, which is designed instead specifically for foreign speakers of English. Of course, you’d also have to ace your SAT-II and AP exams to show the admission officials that your specific technical knowledge (in math and sciences for instance) is strong.

i also got 500 in CR but i got 94 in toefl iBT( higher range) … so do u think they will consider dese scores for fin aid… i got 700 in maths…
