Help Me Decide ASU vs University of Alberta (Canada)

University of Alberta vs. Arizona State(ASU)

UofAlberta(Canada):
PROS:
-Academic Rigor
-Small Student Body
-Light on the pocket
-Higher Rankings

CONS:
-In Edmonton, a small city, not a lot to do around
-Bleak social life
-Depressing Winters

ASU
PROS:
-Business School highly ranked
-A lot to do, a lot more opportunities
-I personally know some professors
-School Spirit!!

CONS:
-Slightly more expensive, even with a scholarship
-Been talking to some students, not a big fan of much of the incoming student body
-Students have mixed views about academics
-Slightly lower rankings
-Reputation slightly bad
-Some majors of choice will have to be taken at a different campus

Are you American or Canadian or overseas?

Edmonton has one million people, hardly a small city.

Polar opposites in term of climate.

UAlberta has better academics.

Did you get into ASU Barrett?

Hey I’m an international. I also am open (would try) transferring to a US T-20 after 2nd sem.
Does UofAlberta win in this aspect too?

No I didn’t. I got into the W.P. Carey School of Business at ASU.
However, at UofAlberta, I was admitted to the Econ program offered by the Faculty of Arts. Plan on double majoring in Math.

it’s very hard to get into a T20 as a freshman transfer. Some don’t even admit freshman transfers. So, don’t choose your university based on that criterion.

No I didn’t. Check my reply above your last comment please

we posted at the same time!
Ok, ASU without Barrett is less good than Alberta. Economics+Math or Math+Business or Math+Finance or Math+Computing would all be very employable.

If you try and transfer after freshman year to a T20 they will look at your high school record. If you were denied at a T20 as a freshman you will be denied as a sophomore.
