Help me find a school that fits me :)

Eastafrobeauty, you’re still demonstrating the same impulsitivity that got you into trouble in the first place. (why are you bumping threads after an hour?) get the great grades at your local school and Then worry about formulating your list. Right now, it’s totally unrealistic for you to shoot for these schools.

There are 4.0 students in hs who for financial or personal reasons wound up at CC or lower ranked schools who want to apply to the kinds of these schools. Why should these schools take you over them? I think you need to adjust your expectations.

^ I’m already showing strong upward trend (even ending the semester with a 3.8). I plan on going to a state school/or a low tier intstate school or a CC then I plan on making the transfer  I also plan to get a 4.0 senior year…as well as when I start college  I’m already showing signs of improvement…:)

Obviously i don’t plan on playing to those schools (except maybe the UMN-Twin Cities) b/c I know I’m not going to get in…I’m not that stupid. haha.
sorry for bumping threads…I can get impatient sometimes :/

Great! Keep up the good work!

so…do you think I should give some of my schools on the list a shot at transferring after 1 year?

I don’t want to be mean, but I dislike how you brushed off your GPA with “oh I’m URM”. As am I, and I have a 4.8. Remember that even when you’re URM you’re competing against some very high achieving URMs, so I’d take the advice of others and work on that first.

But on that note, most large state flagships on the east coast seem like they’d be good fits for you. UF, UNC, etc. However, remember that these are very highly selective universities to OOS students. UNC reserves 87%, I believe, of it’s spots for in state. If the campuses of these universities don’t seem pretty enough to you, I suggest looking on the west coast, where you could get all you wanted and still be by a coast. Maybe UCLA or UW (which has a gorgeous quad in the spring)?
