but im not sure if i should go to PA or Louisiana.

which state will be good?
plz help me soon

What do you want to major in?

i want to major in Business Administration or Accounting

Wow, those are some major climate differences.

If you like cold and the snow, go to Gannon. I lived near Erie between November and March when I was about five. My parents moved us on Halloween night. It was still warm enough to run around without a jacket where I lived about three hours away… and I woke up on November first to snow falling from the sky.

If climate’s important to you, you might want to look up average highs and lows and general weather type stuff. If not, well… I really don’t know much about either place to tell you where to go. And, well, that’s not really my decision anyway.

Is it simply a question of where? These two schools are different in just about every way.

Nicholls State: rural, commuter, public, AACSB-accredited
Gannon: urban, small, Catholic, not AACSB-accredited

Do check out the weather. Do you have the budget for winter clothing?

Do check out transportation. How easy will it be for you to get to and from each of these places?

As ferryboat10 suggests, do consider whether it is important to you that Nicholls State is AACSB accredited. Will that accreditation make a difference for your possible future plans?

thanks guys. i think that AACSB accredition will be VERY IMPORTANT for my future plans.

hey if i do well in my first year at Nicholls do you think i can trnsfer to some good colleges…like Viilanova, Austin, Tulane etc or have any shot at less selective IVY???
i knw i might me over aimbitious…but cant help myself

If you’re thinking about transferring, AACSB accreditation likely won’t matter until selecting classes for your junior year.

i got i20 from nicholls st univ. so i wud be going there. i am confused abt meal plans. i dont know how to decide which want to choose.

So can you guys suggest me how to choose a mealplan and what are the things i need to consider???

Meal plans can be confusing. You need to think about how many days each week you will eat on campus, and how many you will be away from campus. Usually plan options include something like:

20 meals (Breakfast, lunch, dinner each day except Sunday. Brunch and dinner on Sunday).
15 meals (Breakfast, lunch, dinner Monday through Friday).
5 meals (Lunch Monday through Friday).

You also may have a certain amount of money in a special account to buy some food (or individual meals) when you eat on campus at a time that isn’t in your meal plan.

Are you living on campus? Will you be there every weekend (or most weekends)? Are there kitchen facilities in your residence? How far is it to the supermarket?

Some students opt for the most complete meal plan for the first semester. That gives them time to figure out whether they like the college food, and how else they can find food (and how expensive that food might be) before the second semester begins.

Good Luck at Nicholls!

thnks happymomo do u knw
what is munch money?? all i understood is it works like credit card but the opposite way. is it so??

and this munch money varies according to plan. so how will this help me??

If there is an option with a name like “munch money” I expect that it is a pre-paid account that will allow you to buy meals that aren’t included in your regular plan. Depending on the university, this would cover meals for yourself, snacks/sodas/coffee etc. at a campus snack bar other than the cafeteria, and even meals for a visiting friend from out of town. You need to find out where you can spend this money. Each time you eat, the cost of your food will be deducted from the “munch money” account until the money is gone. After that, you will have to buy your extra meals individually. Some plans might allow you to add money to that account during the course of the school year.

Different plans will include different numbers of meals during each week, and different amounts of “munch money”. This is so you can figure out which plan will work best for you.

In states where food is taxed, paying with a “munch money” account allows you to avoid that extra 5% of tax. It also allows you to include all of that amount of money into your room and board cost for the university when you are calculating your cost of attendance. Estimating how much of your pocket money you might spend on extra meals and snacks is harder to do, and if you need to have exact reports of your expenses, you have less record keeping.

umanga, what country are you from?

thanks again happymomo

im from Nepal,siglio21

hey guys i got d visa!!!

i was wondering what things i should take to US and how should i prepare myself for the new challenge??? guys do drop some tips for me!!!

regards

congrats umanga! i think the others have made great suggestions in terms of the schools…as far as things to bring, you should bring as much as you can from home, and then buy the other things once you are in the united states. i would probably bring some clothes, a computer, an alarm clock, phone, and other things that are easy to travel with – as for some other stuff like a television, you should try to contact your roommates and see if they can bring those things, given how far away you’re going to be…good luck!

Clothes, money, important documents and select favorite items
