Help please: College and Fees for an International

Hey y’all!

I’m kinda overwhelmed, and mesmerized. Every US university I’ve checked out states that any non-US citizen wishing to attend the school has to prove that they can be able to support their education for at least 1 academic year. To add salt to that wound, State and Federal loans are not accessible to non-citizens. Some colleges give scholarships and jobs to help pay the fees and expenses, yet before you can be admitted, you MUST pay from your own source the fee for at least one year. I want to do Music and Biblical Studies. Does anyone know of a University in US that is full-need/need-blind/need-based, BUT offering such courses- BIBLICAL STUDIES+MUSIC!!! pliiiiizzzzz!!! Some other option will be appreciated too…

What are your grades and scores? Where are you from?

3GPA. I’m yet to do the SAT/ACT…From East Africa.

Do you know [Collegeboard’s College Search Engine](College Search - BigFuture | College Board)?

Try running a search for 4-year colleges with majors in music and biblical studies and offering financial aid to international students. The search will return a list of ~100 colleges, which you can check for financial aid opportunities by hand.

Colleges are legally required to do that. They cannot issue documents to apply for a student visa until after you have proven sufficient funds to pay for the first year of attendance. Those funds may include college-sponsored financial aid. (Colleges giving aid to international students usually won’t ask for a certification of finances until after financial aid has been awarded. Colleges that expect international students to pay for the full cost of attendance usually ask for this document at the time of admission - no need to admit applicants who are not going to be able to pay anyway.)
