That information would be very helpful to many students making college application lists, but it seems to be less available in standardized form (IPEDS / collegenavigator, CDS / collegedata, etc.) and is often not that clearly stated on college web sites.
Most colleges are much less transparent than San Jose State University is on the topic of different levels of competitiveness for admission to various majors (lots of majors at SJSU admitted frosh applicants with HS GPA 2.6, but CS required a 4.3 and animation required a 4.0 + supplemental drawing exercises – GPA has limited weighting that could be up to 0.3-0.4 higher than unweighted, and there is a +0.25 for local area applicants).
Also, secondary admission or weed-out for some majors exists at some colleges.
