i’m currently enrolled at Melbourne University and I just got accepted ED to Duke.

I havent actually started at UMelb, and wont until February…

the thing is, if i enroll at Duke and still attend a term at Melbourne, can Duke withdraw my acceptance?? cause i’ll be technically enrolled at two colleges…

People have had their admissions rescinded in the past for doing this sort of thing. I mean, of course if they don’t find out, then it’s usually fine, but it never hurts to be on the safe side of things.

you can always call up and ask…explain that you are definitely enrolling at Duke(assuming you are) and that you just want to get a feel of college life before you officially join, since you will be graduating soon(I assume you are) and will have nothing to do till september until you join Duke.

No. I’m not taking the risk anymore. I’m not going to attend Melb Uni. Thats final. I’m gonna find other ways to get my mind up to thinking capacity again.

I read the Princeton Freshman criteria and it specifically says not to start any other uni courses or watever so I’m definately not doing melb uni.

sry Jay01- guess I may not see you there after all :(

ah shoot. i should probably call Duke tonight and set things straight. withdraw my deposit… and pray duke doesnt have the urge to withdraw my acceptance.

any one have any ideas where someone who lives in malaysia can take college courses without going against any rules???

Well I know all my profs here at Utas and they’ll let unofficially attend their classes. Like I’ll be doing all the tests, and stuff and he’ll give me private feedback. I won’t be enrolled- just hanging about walking into classes :). After all- all you should be needing is to get your mindset geared up for college!

Why don’t you just sit in for classes but not enroll as a proper student? I think that is legitimate. As long as you are not a student of another university, Duke can’t fault you. I’m pretty sure if you negotiate with the admin, they will allow you to sit in for a term of classes.

They have done so in the past. Most colleges (most likely inv duke) says on their websites that entering freshman are not supposed to have attended a college-credited course (post acceptance).

Be safe. Like kjoodles. Just bum around for the next 7 months! How fun would that be? (go to disney land!)

If you get into Duke RD, i don’t think it would be a problem, but you got in ED, meaning you know about Duke’s accepance before UMelbourne’s enrollment. So i suggest you don’t go to Melbourne.

Ah, have a question myself. I am applying RD to US colleges, so i’ll know of the admission results only in April and i’ve been accepted to a new zealand university which matriculates in Febuary. Any problem if i go there and finish one semester?

Read the conditions for applying as a freshman carefully at whichever school your applying. If you do take a semester- that may violate the conditions of being a freshman and could get your offer recinded.
