I asked one of my teachers for a letter of recommendation, and she said that she would do it, but she gets a lot of students asking for letters so she wants me to write the first paragraph. However… I have no idea how to do this. I’m not sure what I should write about. Everything I write sounds like I’m either bragging or putting words in my teacher’s mouth. Has anyone ever had to do something like this before? What did you do??
The first paragraph can just consist of facts. "I am writing this letter on behalf of NYUhopeful, who was a student in my xx class during the school year 2016-2017. " Then add sentences about what the course was and what grade you received. Then you could mention anything in particular, like you chose to write about Faulkner for your term paper.
The rest of the letter can contain the teacher’s opinions.
