<p>When you open a thread, put #1.</p>

<p>Then subsequent posters can follow suit. If the OP forgets to put a number, then the subsequent poster just puts #2. </p>

<p>If the #5 poster forgets to put #5, then the next poster still puts #6 so that any later referenced post can still be identified.</p>

<p>What do you all think?</p>

<p>What happens, though, when you are cross posting? Like, I think I’m post #2, but if someone hits “send” before mine, there will be 2 (or more) post #2s.</p>

<p>I think you have a good intentions. I think people won’t follow through. I think that some of us post randomly while doing other work and that one more step isn’t going to be remembered/happen, etc. Some people will put the number at the beginning, some will add it at the end, some won’t count right!!! </p>

<p>I applaud the idea though!!! :)</p>

<p>That can happen, but with an hour to correct posts, a person can fix that. And if it doesn’t get fixed then the next person needs to put the right number.</p>

<p>Well, I never did understand why the numbering was removed seemed so handy. Heck, even if the numbering I’d a bit off due to cross posting, it will be a reference point and should be around where the marker is. </p>

<p>What do we do on older threads? Do we just start numbering from #1 now even though there may be pages and pages of previous posts?</p>

<p>I’ll try this too if we’re all going to give it a shot. It seems like it would be easiest just to start it on new threads, but if anybody has any other ideas I am open to them.</p>
