Sorry–we got the card with a gift basket someone sent us over the holidays & nearly tossed it since we rarely order from Harry & David (shipping to HI is an extra charge above & beyond regular shipping charges). I thought it was a perfect thing to send to the kids who are in LA.

Just tried to use our $10 coupon with the no-shipping offer on pears. No go. I called customer service and the guy acted like he was being gracious to give me the discount on pears with the $10 off. But still charging shipping so it ended up being more than the “no-shipping” sale on the website.
Rats, D loves the pears, but not enough that we would be sending them to the entire dorm suite…

Sorry that you weren’t able to use the discount card–was surprised the phone rep let me use it & still get the free shipping, but glad it worked as a nice surprise for the kids. Will be interesting to see how they distribute their boxes of food–pears + Hickory Farms treats! Did alert D to be on the lookout for one box soon & one box in February after we come back from seeing her in SF. Didn’t specify exactly what was being sent but said it was food–one box for her & one for brother. Didn’t mail it to S because he has a tougher time receiving packages & didn’t want to send it to his friend in the frat for fear it might be devoured before he saw it.

UPDATE:

For those of you who put the “sizzler” 15% discount in the sourcecode at check out-- CHECK YOUR BILLS. My discount was not applied. The guy on the phone admitted that this has been going on since last week, and they haven’t fixed it. To make matters worse, their customer service computers are down today and won’t be back up until tomorrow, so I have to call back to get this fixed!!! Hassle.

So, to whoever it was (sorry, I forget) who is friends with the owner of Hickory Farms, let him know you have some unhappy campers here, adn that offering a discount and not applying it to orders made for well over a week is probably not kosher…

*** Ahh- it was Toledo who is friends with the head honcho. Perhaps its time for a friendly phonecall?!?!?!

I guess they are prepared to take their hit on the balance sheet as “damaged” merchandise as opposed to goods not sold? What a mess.

Even without the SIZZLER discount, the prices are pretty amazing. I don’t have the ability to check my bills on-line at this point, but I’m happy even with the original sale prices that were advertised on 1/19. It would be an added bonus if they fixed things so they charged us what they said they would.

'Tis true but why have such a promotional blitz, hopefully attracting new customers only to blow it? Makes no sense to me. Maybe once I am holding a brewski and munching I can forgive myself for getting treated poorly when spending money? In this economic climate debating 15% can be an issue. Returning this merchandise will cost them much more than having processed my billing correctly. This is about accuracy.

I agree with hazmat. If they are going to offer a discount and then they don’t, that is false advertising. The item I ordered for my s was only 50% off, but with the additional few dollars off, it was a better deal than some available on other food/cheese websites. The s&h fee seemed high to me, but I figured ti was offset in part by the discount. I don’t know if they will automatically apply a credit to all these orders when they fix their glitch. The guy on the phone didnt “volunteer” the information that their system hadnt been applying the discount. He only shared that when I asked if anyone else had had this problem. At first he just did the standard “let me look up your order” (his computer worked- not the cust svc. I am guessing he was in sales) and then said “oh yes, you are correct. The discount wasn’t applied” and that I’d have to call back tomorrow when their system was back up. It did not sound like this would be corrected automatically.

Is there anyone besides jym that didn’t get the extra discount? Jym, let me know if they don’t get it straightened out tomorrow, as I will be seeing their CEO at the school basketball game on Saturday. FWIW, I know they are trying to do better. I am also a secret shopper and their company posted a lot of jobs in November to make sure their phone order dept. was doing it’s job. Of course that wouldn’t help with incorrect billing, which wouldn’t be found until a later date.

Thanks for following up on this, toledo.
Mysweetbaboo also mentioned the 15% “sizzler” sourcecode coupon. Did anyone else use it?

I used it and it showed up OK.

^^^ Singersmom-
It showed up on my receipt after my order, but the price charged to my credit card (which I happened to see on line today) was the full price without the discount.

Didn’t see the sizzler code in time when I placed my order.

Received email today that order has shipped. Today’s heat wave in the 60’s will be replaced by more appropriate weather for a box of perishables to sit on my porch in a day or so.

Just crossed checked again - the shipping receipts were different from the order since I sent to several addresses - but everything is OK including credit card charge.

My email receipt and credit card statement both reflect the 15% discount.

I got my package today and I heard that my sister got hers also, I’m waiting to hear from college son. I got the one with the two sausages and the cheese balls for $3.75 it looks great. The presentation is very nice. I’ll just store the whole thing in the garage until the superbowl in a couple of weeks! Yay for after holiday specials!

One of my Harry and David packages should arrive to D2 at college tomorrow (according to the tracking tool); I didn’t tell either one I’d sent something, but I did tell D2 that I’d sent her electric toothbrush she’d left at home and to expect it in the mail tomorrow, because their mail room isn’t open to get packages over the weekend. The toothbrush probably won’t come tomorrow (just sent it late afternoon yesterday), but when she gets the e-mail that she has a package waiting, she’ll think it’s the toothbrush and go get it… and hopefully be pleasantly surprised.

Wow–didn’t know the packages are arriving. D got a care package of stuff she forgot today. Who knows–she may get Hickory Farms tomorrow! What a lucky girl! It may give her leverage to get her brother to fix her bike (I mailed both boxes to her).

I asked that Harry & David send the pears in early February so there will be break between food shipments & spread things around a bit. Such lucky kids!

My box arrived today. Very nice. Can’t believe all of the food for $7.50 (I got the family and friends box that was originally $50). Nice presentation box. Not sure if son got his at school yet. Sorry a couple of people have had billing issues. I’ll bet Hickory Farms will come through on resolving things for you. Thanks again to DeniseC for the tip!

My D got her cheese ball gift box and was impressed. It arrived today. The one I ordered arrives tomorrow. I got the sizzler discount. In the emails confirming shipping, it listed the appropriate discounts, listed shipping charges separate for each order location (hers and mine) and had a big warning saying that when an order is split and goes to 2 different addresses, the shipping fee listed on the shipping confirmation email will APPEAR higher than what is charged on the credit card. They were correct. The email listed two full shipping charges, but the credit card had the correct combined charge based on total price. I was glad they provided an explaination.

The cheeseball gift box was $3.75 less the sizzler discount. To be honest, for that price, I felt guilty getting 15% off. I explained to D that, for that price, even if only some of it was to her liking… She said there were cheese balls, regular cheese, mustard, crackers and WOW it was packed with stuff.
