High AP Score/Low Grade

I might get my first (transcript) C ever, and unfortunately it’s junior year-the most important one, and I’m looking at top schools. The class is AP World. If I get a 4 or 5 on the AP exam, will this show that I wasn’t just slacking and the class was difficult? Or will it look like I’m just a lazy person who’s a good test taker?

both i guess. but it really depends on your school

… hmm sorry for the side note but i thought sophs take whap and juniors take apush? at least it’s like that at our school.

there’s this girl and she transferred this year and she took apush her soph year and she wanted to take ap world cause they didnt have it at her old school but then my school didnt let her because “it’s a sophomore class”.

but you should take the sat subject test for it too–if you KNOW you can do well and get a 700+ the colleges will DEFINITELY see that the class was just hard.

SAT II and AP score should justify it. Your GC’s, or even your teacher’s, recommendation can touch upon the difficulty of the course and your ability to still achieve you goal.

deeptin09, things like that vary from school to school. We don’t even have world history at my school–euro is the sophomore class.

haha, i’m pretty sure i’ll fail the SAT II miserably…it really wasn’t that the class was ‘hard’, but the teacher was incompetent and crazy. My guidance counselor has verbally acknowledged this many times, but you can’t really call one of your fellow staff crazy on a recommendation. I think I did well on the AP test, but IDK. I would just suck it up and self study, but self-studying a history course is really difficult. So I’m really relying on that AP score.
