I’ve started having bad dreams about my senior schedule. A lot of classes got cut last year, so I know my schedule will need to be changed, but my worry is that I won’t be able to get good classes!

Guys, I’m beyond scared for AP Physics B this year. I haven’t even taken trig.

Yeah I’m freaking out over Physics C. I don’t remember anything from Honors! And I’m also really nervous I’ll have the same teacher for IB History. I got a C first semester so if I have him then I know I’ll fail the IB exam. I’m worried about a lot of things. Then I’m worried my schedule won’t work out and I won’t be able to take theatre as a blow-off class.

if you did physics honors/physics b, you shouldn’t worry about physics C.
It’s 2 subjects (e/m and mech) vs 5 subjects (e/m, mech, thermo, fluids, atomic physics).

ok totally unrelated, but since it is THAT time of year again, (cough* college apps *cough), what are yall doing to prepare for this next school year??

I’ve heard that creating a detailed calendar with all the dates and deadlines is super helpful

Just from my experience, regular physics is a completely different thing from Physics B or C. I had multiple friends who took regular physics to ‘prepare’ for taking the AP course, and it didn’t help. at all.
I don’t know why, but Physics B AP was the hardest course I’ve taken to date. It completely threw me off track in junior year. It’s the only subject that I’ve never been able to ‘get’, which sucks.

@gmaijoe, I’m just trying to get a head start on things. Essays and stuff.

@gmaijoe I’ve been trying to get started on my essays. My CA essay is halfway done. When the CA is released on Thursday, I’m going to try and get it done as much as possible before school starts. As for the Calendar, right now I have a spreadsheet with colleges I’m applying to (I haven’t fully refined my list though), whether or not they have essays and app deadlines.

I’ve created priority sheets for the colleges I’m applying to. Not only it would help me get stuff done, but it will also help my counselor get stuff done also.

@gmaijoe: I can’t recommend Google Calendars enough!

It’s a lifesaver for me (especially since I play a lot of sports and it’s hard to keep up with practice times and match days for different sports). It’s set on “Weekly” for me and you pretty much view each day of the week, and can create different blocks for different activities… and if you are creative you can make it REALLY colorful and cool looking.

@gmaijoe, I made what I called a “Crunch Time Plan of Action” (judge all you want) in which I had all important to-do’s deadlines for college. I think I’m going to heed the advice given by FantasyVesperia and Rob1995, and make priority sheets and calendars to keep myself organized.

Also, is it odd that I’m actually REALLY excited for August 1?

I have a question but I don’t feel like opening a new topic.

Since AP scores are self-reported and you can select which ones to send and which ones to withhold, which scores do you think are best to send? Of course you are going to report your 5’s, but would you report a 4? What about a 3?

I’m unsure if I want to report the 3’s I got!

wait you can choose which ap scores to send? WHAT?!

Why wouldn’t you report a 4 or 3? You still passed. If you don’t report them the adcoms will see the course on your transcript and won’t have a score to match, they can just assume you didn’t do so well.

@tinny I mean colleges may also think that you didnt take the exam by choice. I took 7 AP classes my junior year but only took 5 exams.

I thought there was a limit to how many scores you could send anyway. (8?) That’s not including SAT subject tests.

Not an option for me because my school requires that you take the exam.

If you took the class and are missing the AP test, it will show up as a red flag for adcoms

for the guys who have visited colleges: how big are on campus rooms and how much free space is there?

I wouldn’t worry so much about the actual AP scores because they don’t effect admissions they’re just for gaining credit once you’re enrolled.

@Jwen556

I have only seen UMN’s rooms, but they weren’t that big. Not that I expected them to be. That said, as long as you loft your bed you’ll have enough room for the important stuff.
