I wish I would have joined CC earlier in my HS career and discovered self-studying. Not only because it would look good for admissions, but I want to take an economics course to see if I like it. I suppose I could self study this year, but there’s really no point since I doubt I’d get any college credit for AP Micro/Macro if I plan on entering engineering.

Also, I don’t think anyone has ever self studied an AP course in the history of my school.

Hmm, as it turns out I found a free online microeconomics textbook that I think I’m going to just read for the hell of it. Unless I start getting bored.

Sameee… Yeah Mocheng me too… It’s like, normal people haven’t done theirs yet, but everyone on CC has. Halcyon, I have this vague feeling that I have some great essay inside me too, yet I can’t seem to put anything like that on paper. 000chet yeah me too, I’d never heard of self-studying until like 2 months ago, argh.

I wish I would’ve joined CC earlier in my high school career as well. Maybe I would have taken more APs. My high school principal said she wanted us to take at least one before we graduate and I was just stuck on that one (which was APUSH).

But then again I’m happy I didn’t because I was able to actually enjoy some of my high school time without worrying about college admissions. I guess I joined at the appropriate time (middle of junior year).

I’m sure all of your essays are fine. It’s highly unlikely that anyone here has an essay that sucks, especially compared to the essays that most HS students would write.

BE CONFIDENT!!

@Tinny Good point, actually. I guess it was probably less stressful being blissfully ignorant for a couple years.

I’ve written 10 essays(!) and my mom and aunt are both revising them one by one. Luckily some of them are recycled with some blocks rewritten. So far, I’ve applied to 2 schools and plan on applying to 5 of them (4 are Common App) on Thursday. I’m excited to do my application!

^^ Exactly! I enjoyed my misinformed days. Those days when I thought UChicago and Stanford were ivies. Those days when I thought any school in the top 10 on USNews were ivies.

I might not end up applying to US after all, cuz of my citizenship status. I was agonizing about the time and maybe God made the decision for me, heh.

Good luck to you all with the essay writing…I’m going to delay it for a few days, since I want to discuss this with my parents.

I used to think it would be kind of crazy for me to apply to an ivy… And I used to not know or care that college rankings even existed… The good old days.

My essays are coming slowly. I can’t rush them, otherwise they don’t sound right. I have a philosophical/deep thought kind of personality so that’s the way I write. I just hope they don’t sound too moody. I don’t have a lot of time to work on them right now because I’m working on my arts supplement and doing SAT prep.

None of my friends have even started thinking about essays yet…

I have half of my CA essay done. Word of advice: don’t show it to your parents. I stupidly let my mom read it. She’s a professional writer, but she has no idea on how to write a college essay. he knows how to write law briefs. She’s telling me what she thinks I should do when I like what I’m doing. I know it’s helpful to have multiple POVs but she just ughhh.

I’m showing my essays to my parents, my old English teacher who’s writing one of my recs, my English teacher next year, and maybe one or two of my friends.
