Just got home from helping out with freshmen orientation and ready to start on the common app.

I’m so ready.

Just got home from helping out with freshmen orientation and ready to start on the common app.

I’m so ready.

@Indigo I only really have two scores to report and that’s my ACT and AP score. I figure there was no point and just it was just extra. Plus the scores that will get me admission are coming in the upcoming months.

Maybe CommonApp keeps crashing because complete ner- um, because such academically involved kids interested in their futures are going on the site in the masses.

@lldm21, This is something I’ve been experiencing very frequently now. Like, holy hell…I’m actually applying to college…

:’)

I’m self reporting, but I find it weird they make you put down prospective APs.

^^ I have those feelings as well. Even my mom is nervous for me. I’m very eager to start these supplements though since I completed most of the actual application already. None of my schools have them up and ready yet.

I’m in a interesting situation though. My mom doesn’t want me to mention my dad on the application because they are divorced. She thinks we’ll get more financial aid without him mentioned, BUT I talked about my dad in my essay lol. It’s not like he makes much anyways, collectively they are both still under 40k. Ugh…stubborn mother.

Wait, so you can self-report all of your scores? Like even your SAT, SAT IIs, ACT, and APs?
Because that would be so much cheaper than ordering score reports for like 8 schools.

Most schools (all?) require official reports.

I thought you had to report your scores directly from the testing agency?

Every time I try to add activities it crashes.

Supplementals aren’t there :’(

I’m going in with the mindset I’ll likely get rejected. Hopefully I can keep it up so I don’t have any hopes.

On an unrelated note: Stetson University, STAWP. I will not attend ever.

I filling out this stuff now, and realize that there’s too much stuff lol.

I don’t even know what my college list is anymore; everyone keeps telling me that I’m aiming too low and that I’m cheating myself out of a lot of potential opportunity. I did MITES at MIT this summer, which all of the top colleges know about and love (apparently), and even a couple of my TAs told me to aim a lot higher (half the class goes onto MIT the following year… a lot of the rest go on to Ivies or Ivy-caliber schools).

Clark Uni
Carleton College
Oberlin College
Vassar College
Wesleyan University
Brown University
MIT

I might not even bother filling this out since my EA school doesn’t use it. Positive thinking and all.

“Supplementals aren’t there :’(”

Literally the only reason I bothered to make an account this early was for supplements, but no. I don’t have the patience for this.

@lldm21 I know somebody that went to MITES. You might know them too.

lldm, make sure you like the school and can afford them. If you prefer Wesleyan to Yale or something, then don’t apply to the latter just b/c some person who doesn’t know you that well wants you too. I think it’s a good idea to consider all options, of course, but don’t get pressured into anything.

@malaise, they might not even be out until Aug 18. :(

@Tinny: This summer or in the past? Because I know everybody who did it this summer :p.

@ecouter: Yeah, Yale & Harvard are out of the question. Money isn’t really a concern; we don’t make enough for it to be.

@lldm21 This summer.

Does anyone else find it weird that it only lets you put one or more hours per week for each activity?

The teachers at my school are lame and we normally only have meetings on a bi-weekly basis, if that.

I just feel like if adcoms really looked at all the time we said we were doing activities, they’d probably wonder when we had time to carry out the normal bodily functions associated with living.
