I don’t really have honors but I’m having trouble sorting and organizing my activities so I have 10 spots. Question: If I hold 2 different positions for the same organization in different years, do I put them as separate activities? Well they are almost the exact same position, but with 2 different names. Also there are some positions I held, but did minimal work for. Like I didn’t do anything from Mar-May but then in June did an hour for, what do I put?

^ I have both of those questions as well

^^^ I only put two honors, so you’re not alone. NHS wouldn’t really count as an honor would it? What about honor roll, according to my school handbook I’ve made honor roll every semester but there was no official list or anything.

@collegeluva101: Yep, this summer’s work would count as 12 officially.

@superstarlala and @000Chet:

From what I’ve gathered on other threads, it would be best to put your two positions in different years under the same activity description. For example: “Vice-President (10), President (11, 12)”.

Also (from what I’ve seen), if you’ve done an hour in June it would be 1 week and 1 hour/week. If you’ve done multiple #s of hours over say, a two month span, you would put 8 weeks and average out the hours for each week (add them up and divide by 8 and then round).

@TinnyT: Nah I wouldn’t put NHS or honor roll on there if you’re applying to more selective schools because honestly, most applicants will have it and you’ll just look like you’re fluffing. Two honors aren’t terrible if they’re meaningful to you!

Now for a question of my own. What’s the difference between the school, break, and year markings for each activity. I get ‘break’ would be winter/summer breaks, but does ‘school’ imply in school and ‘year’ the entire year (52 weeks)? I’m kinda confused by it.

^ That’s what I always thought. School = during the school year, Year = entire year and break = all the breaks.

^I have the same question. Like for Key Club, my position requires a lot of summer work, so I just check all three, but that’s probably wrong…

@FantasyVesperia @collegeluva101

So if it was entire year, then would you check all three? And let’s say you do something year round, would you be obligated to put exactly 52 weeks down or could you put 45-50 weeks too?

And yeah I have a club that I work on over the summer but its only for a few weeks or so. Does it count as “break” as well as “year” because its during the schoolyear and the break time too?

Hey guys, quick question since I’m looking for colleges; what schools have the highest grade inflation? Was searching on google and I didn’t find a sufficient answer… Even though its Google…

^ Looking for that easy A, I see. Lol jk, grade inflation can be very subjective and it’s not a quantitative statistic so I doubt a list exists. Why do you want that information?

Would I put school or year if I worked on something outside of school itself, but during the school year? Say from November to March, but with a separate organization

I would put school, because it was still technically during the school year.

Do you guys have details and all that for every activity? There are a couple activities where I’m not really sure what to write there.

if you check out the help center, NHS is considered an Honor, just at a school level.

I guess I should really check out that help center.

None of my colleges on common app have supplements or questions ready, so It’s just a waiting game now.

Also, is anyone else applying to University of Pittsburgh? If so, have you started an application yet? I debating whether to start or not. I’m not sure if starting one would be too early.

I dislike the Common App almost as much as I dislike College Board.

I shouldve made a brag sheet as I went through each year in high school. Ive forgotten what ive done throughout the years.

3 of the colleges I’m applying to are not on the CA and their apps haven’t been released yet. Ughhh

I tried going to the help center but it’s under maintenance. Imagine that.

I have 4 non-common app schools. 3 of them are open. UIUC won’t open their app until Sept 1. -__-

UMD opens mid-August. MIT opens late August or September and Tulane is on the Universal College App which actually is open, but I might end up not applying
