I thought hispanic was more of a spanish culture mixed w/ spanish settlers, black slaves and the native American population?

@NMS for asians. Lets be real…if that existed, the cutoff would be 235 or something.

Wikipedia tells me:

Meh.

And I thought Latinos were classified as people from French, Portuguese, and Spanish-speaking countries in the Americas. Confusing…

@halcyonheather: Yeah, I wasn’t really going for underrepresented - just kind of changed the subject a bit. I was talking about transracism as described above. The person I know who’s practically Asian but is white was for all intents and purposes born white. It’s just that she acts Asian and even was debating over whether to put Asian on college apps (she’s going to college this year).

@Quidditch: I’m mostly Native, and then equal(ish) portions of black & white, but some people genuinely don’t think that I’m actually black based on the way that I act… in spite of the fact that my skin is (currently… I tan like crazy) as dark as a mahogany door.

lldm, as a biracial/multiracial individual, do you identify as multiple races or like consider yourself more ‘one than the other’? Like Obama is actually half-black, but he’s considered black.

I’m pretty obviously indian, though a guy I worked with thought I was Puerto Rican haha.

“Hispanic is someone who can trace their roots back to Spain.”
Then everyone is hispanic if they try hard enough, haha. Yet I’ve traced my roots back to William the Conqueror and still no spanish ancestors…

I got an invite email from Questbridge even though I don’t qualify financially. How do they decide who to send their emails to?

Today I hate my life. I hate it, I hate it, I hate it and I hate it!

I applied for a veterinary assistant job at an emergency clinic and I got a call. The lady was saying these things, talking when I’m available and all that good stuff, then at the end of the freaking call, I hear the words, “We’ll keep your resume on file…” I died.

Job hunting for the win…

^ OMG trolled.

I’m beta testing at Cappex in a hour. Just waiting for time to pass by. Then after, ACT prep!

Today was fun so far, BUT I WANT SLEEP!

I identify as everything equally. They’re all a part of my DNA, so I don’t really see a point in identifying as just one, other than convenience. My town is ~80-90% white, and when I talk to minorities, they always say something like, “You’ve never felt different or like an outcast because you live in a majority white town?” They’re always surprised at the answer, for some reason.

@Fantasy: I have an interview at Kmart tomorrow. I’ve been there twice in my life. Help.

Do you look white?

No.

10char

I’m black, and every sports team I was apart of I was THE only black person. I never felt like an outcast. We were all human so there was no reason to feel different.

Were you the fastest one?

why no hookup culture? not my thing. if it’s something I want to get into, it shouldn’t be a problem anywhere haha, I just don’t need it surrounding my college existence.

I’m indian and my PSAT was 194 or something, so no NMF for me! slacking doe.

ecouter: I was lucky to have a great tour guide, so I loved it! she may have been slightly biased because of her major, so while I may have thought it was beautiful and NYC is my favorite place ever, I didn’t get the feeling that doing a not-STEM undergrad was worth it. a friend of mine visited the same day, and his tour guide was awful! wouldn’t stop talking about how tough his decision to go to Columbia over Duke was… umm really though. (the point seemed relevant while I was typing, but now I don’t wanna delete it. take it as you will.)

Just got my senior year schedule, and I honestly could have not gotten a better schedule. I have the perfect teachers with the perfect periods and my dream lunch period. I just got so much more excited for senior year!!! Might be the best year ever!

Well, that’s good. Where I live there aren’t many black people. (Is it weird I feel bad saying “black people”?) There are a TON of Asians, though. I think white people feel like the minority.

People think I’m Chinese or a South Asian race (since I tan easily, I’m pretty dark for an east Asian).

I started school today… It was okay, but being a senior FEELS SO WEIRD. I’m used to having friends who are older than me and they’re not there. I can leave school at lunch. However, on Tuesdays and Thursdays I have to go immediately to my math class at community college.

@Repede 2nd fastest

@Quidditch There’s nothing wrong with saying black. Lol don’t worry.

Hi 14ers

Bye
