High School Class of 2014

Is anyone experience that infuriating moment when you do the extremely extensive and tedious summer homework for a class, only to discover that you were kicked out of it due to scheduling conflicts/not enough room?

subterranean, that’s awful :(

I remember last year I finished about half of both my APUSH and AP Bio summer assignments only to find out that the APUSH work was from the year before and AP Bio was cancelled last year due to only 4 people, out of the expected 15 or so, signing up.

Wow. I thought my school sucked with scheduling, but at least they let us know whether a class is running before they give us summer work. Sorry guys =(

Has anyone used Barron’s for Math II? I’m not a math person (honestly I failed so many quizzes/tests in Precalc, hahaha), but the material seems kind of easy for a “hard” subject test…

My school won’t even be handing out schedules until the first day! They haven’t even completed the master schedule yet. I ran into a few teachers at orientation today and none of them knew what classes they’ll be teaching when school starts in TWO WEEKS! Makes me wonder what administration has been doing all summer.

Wow. At my school it’s unthinkable that AP classes get cancelled. Everyone is AP-crazed.

This year Lit & Chem were cancelled, although I don’t ever remember Lit running in the first place. Music Theory is only running because it’s going to be the same block as the dual enrollment course (9 of us signed up… I’m the only person signed up for AP). Lang always runs, APUSH usually runs, Calc usually runs, Art usually runs, and I think that’s about it. Most of these classes have ~10 people (the minimum needed for a class to run, unless you actually fight guidance to run the class, like me & my class Val did for chem last year).

I kind of used Barron’s for math 2 (more like, freaked out the night before and did a couple practice tests, realizing I don’t know a bunch of the stuff in the book). It was harder than the real subject test in my opinion. I consider myself to be pretty good at math, and I took the diagnostic test in Barron’s and got like a 640 which made me really scared. I got a 760 on the real thing but I still will probably retake. Idk about if other books are better but that book bothered me.

I’m so sorry about your guys’ scheduling probs, haha. The worst that’s happened to me is that three of my AP’s for next year only take place during one block, so I have to take two of them as independent studies, which is kind of annoying.

Barron’s is amazing. There are a few typos, but if you can identify those you’ll probably be in good shape anyway. My highest score out of the 3 practice tests I took from the book was 710 and I got a 790 on the actual thing.

I got around 700-730 on Barron’s and got an 800 on the real thing. Strongly recommend.

Well, after having to do all of my summer work yesterday, today’s pretty nice. I got all of my classes, but no one’s in my free period :(

Observations:

2/12 people in AP Physics C are female
5/10 people in AP Chem are female
15/18 people in AP Bio are female

Seems legit.

The legit part is you taking 3 AP sciences. If I were in your position I’d hope those 2 girls don’t drop the physics class.

It’s so strange seeing those numbers… But I guess I live in a pressure cooker area. The male/female ratio in any given AP class is fairly close to 50/50.

Lol, 2 of the guys just dropped AP Physics C and another guy dropped AP Chemistry. Another guy is probably going to drop AP Physics C as well.

At my school, girls dominate all of the AP classes except for AP Calculus AB and BC where there is a 50/50 split and AP Stats where there’s an 80/20 split.

I’m taking all college classes next year, and it just dawned on me that my Christmas break is a month long. :D

I hate your guts.

So, I have abandoned efforts to cut down on my college list (I’m applying to like 13+…) because I feel like I don’t want to put limitations on searching for my potential future happiness. Ya know what I mean?

Now if only I could eliminate those darned app fees…

There are 3 males in my 20-person IB Biology class.

Other than that, classes are pretty mixed. I have a lot of tiny classes. 6-person IB Math class (HL so understandable), 6-person IB Latin class (most people take Spanish, so understandable), and 5-person IB History class (I don’t know how the hell that happened, since the other class has like 20+ people; scheduling is so weird).

All my classes have at least 30 people.
So I’m looking at some liberal arts colleges… a lot of them report class sizes of around 20 people. It’s going to be weird if I end up at one.

The liberal arts colleges that I’m applying to have given me fee waivers for being “diverse.”

Just curious, which liberal arts colleges? How does one become qualified as diverse?

My classes are like 65% female, 35% male.

Anyway… I’m thinking about the SAT and I just wanna bang my head against the wall… :(

Last year I was the only girl in my BC class, and this year I’m the only girl in our physics class. I tried so hard to convince another girl to join, but sadly to no avail, luckily I know most of the guys this year, so it shouldn’t be as bad
