Me too! The answer is 252. O those who haven’t gotten in yet, hurry!

I got into Pottermore, too! I’m just waiting for the email.

I got the email! I’m officially a beta tester. The only downside, though, was the username selection. They only provided me with five possible names, and pretty much all of them sounded feminine (I’m a guy). My username is HallowSparks192. I wish there were some more masculine sounding names…

I got something along the lines of SneerSnitch17. Fair enough, I guess.

I had my first day of class today and already have HW for math, english and history.
yay!

@rok wow you start early! Good luck with that homework!

We read animal farm in 8th grade so I feel like I would’ve been able to get more out of it this year… Maybe I’ll read it again…

My pottermore name is phoenix something… Not too bad can’t wait!!

What is everyone planning to do to pay for college?

I’m looking for scholarships, searching for a part time job, and trying to do dual-enrollment while in high school. I want to avoid student debt so bad it’s not even funny.

Anyone have any exciting end-of-the-summer activities? I’m heading to Lollapalooza tomorrow, and I’m ridiculously excited.

My Pottermore is LumosCharm38.
My friend’s is SkullPhoenix which is pretty masculine.

Same thing for me. Scholarships, part-time job, and AP/dual-enrollment courses. If that’s still not enough I suppose I’ll have to get a student loan but I’m hoping to avoid that as much as I can. While I have heard that in some twisted way loans are helpful by showing that you’re responsible enough to pay things on time I’ve really don’t want to get into debt early in life.

@anaychi
Not lately unfortunately. I went to a carnival not that long ago which I thought was very fun but lately I’m just getting prepared for school which starts in less than two weeks for me.

@tofugirl: (my autocorrect just tried to change your name to “rightism”, haha:) I’m working my pants off! I’m trying to think of good and creative things to do to make money… One thing is, my grandparents donate millions to local charities and such, so I just wish that they could pay for school, because I know they can… But my parents would never ask, nor would I. I’m sure I’ll manage, and I’ll probably get satisfaction from knowing I worked hard to get where I’ll go. :)

My Pottermore is heartmarauder134.

@anaychi: Do you know how LUCKY you are? I’d love to go to Lollapalooza this year. Who are you wanting to see there? I am (hopefully) going to Bumbershoot, a music festival in Seattle over Labor Day weekend. Other than that, I don’t have anything lined up.

You guys are so ahead of me in reading classics and such. I’ve heard of 1984, but can’t find it anywhere (not in my school’s library or the county library) or maybe I’m just not looking hard enough.

@tofugirl: Looking for scholarships (hoping to get the Morehead-Cain or the Robertson to UNC) and AP credits. I already have a part-time job (I work for a few months here and there during the year) and I go back in September.

@franz I’m torn between seeing Coldplay tomorrow night and missing Crystal Castles and Ratatat or see those two and missing Coldplay. I’m seeing deadmau5 foh-shoh.

@anaychi: SEE CRYSTAL CASTLES. No peer pressure or anything. Nope.

Yay deadmau5!

Sooo… I got a letter in the mail yesterday, and this former teacher of mines’ recommended me for that People to People Ambassador program. Though some of the places they mentioned I’ve already been…

Has anyone else done this? I saw another thing on their website where you go to UCLA and LA in general for 10 days and make films and stuff: that’s sounds really cool.

@tofugirl101: In eighth grade, I was also recommended. Definitely check it out. What I remember from the information session I attended, however, is that actually being able to go on the trip is pretty competitive. They only have so many spots so the first X people who put a deposit get to go. Weird, I thought this was something they did only in Washington.

I talked to some Americans in London this summer who were doing that program, they said it wasn’t competitive, someone recommended them. It sounds like they had a really great trip and learned a lot. Plus they all seemed really smart lol

@jerevedeparis: Not academically competitive, I mean in the sense that they have a limited number of spots, so it’s first come, first serve. I know of several people who ended up not being able to go because they didn’t deposit the money quickly enough.
