High School Class of 2014

Haha Tulane also gave me a fee waiver. I might apply just because Tulane hasn’t been as overly annoying as U of Minnesota Twin Cities and RPI.

I also have a set list of school, but there are a few I keep adding and removing because they’re reaches and too many reaches are starting to go on my list.

I asked one teacher for a rec letter, and I need to ask another teacher. However, because the construction got finished, I have no idea where any teachers are and the English office is closed. So I need to ask by email. I feel like that’s not that good though.

To get a teacher to agree to write a rec letter, we have to write so much about ourselves. It’s almost like applying to college.

Frosh orientation day was amazing. I was so excited and outgoing, though, that I scared some of the freshman in my group, lol. One of my best friends happened to be my partner, and she’s suuuuuuch a hooligan; one of the girls even said, “How are you best friends when you’re complete opposites?” But yeah. None of them believed me when I told them that Im typically very quiet, so I guess my loud and exuberant persona was very believable. Granted, it wasn’t hard to do because I was extremely hyper from sleep deprivation.

Anyway, one of them even said that he had more fun than he had anticipated, and that completely made my day.

My first day is tomorrow, and my guidance counselor just told me that I’m taking the hardest course load in my school. By myself. Even the val & sal aren’t taking mainly core classes. /sigh/

Exactly one week left of summer vacation for me

We have to fill out a form with a bunch of stupid questions for teacher recs. Also, still have to fix my common app essay, write a supplement and finish some questions. I also have to finish 3 apps that aren’t common app I started one, one doesn’t come out until September and another you have to fill out all at once.

Good luck to everyone starting their senior year, writing their supplements, filling out their apps, etc.!

I start school on the 9th… oh yeahhhh. :D

I start the 3rd, but we have off the 5th and 6th which is pretty stupid to me

Just found out I get Monday off :D

quidditchcat: I thought Tulane’s app was already free.
Repede: Duh, it’s Labor Day :).

Well, the one that I got an email from Tulane for is the streamlined version that says it makes your life easier. It may be free to apply, idk. The school wasn’t really on my radar until I got the email.

Haha, on Friday I literally only have to go to school for 2 hours. It’s a minimum day, and I usually get to leave at lunch but since there’s no lunch, I leave at brunch.

@halcyonheather, I am good at math when it’s the straightforward kind. I also find that I often make careless mistakes in math when I clearly know how to do the problem. I am pretty good at writing. I would say that my main weakness is critical reading just because my vocabulary may not be as extensive as it should be (though I’m working on it) and I am just not very good at analyzing texts. Hopefully the class will help me with this.

^ Sounds like you’re fit for the ACT. No hard vocab and very straightforward math.

Ahh. Overwhelmed already. I need to find ACT study time. I’m scoring in the 30s now, so I need to maintain that.

Ugh, I think I’m sick. I have this horrible sore throat in which basically any food that isn’t a hot liquid cannot be consumed. Plus I’m really tired. It better not be mono again (I had that over a summer, and it was awful).

Just started school this week! Being a senior still hasn’t quite processed yet

2 weeks until school and haven’t started any of the summer homework yet. HOWEVER, it’s really simple this time, and I only have to do it for 3 classes. AP Lit is just read Crime & Punishment (done) and fill 2 pages in, AP US Gov is fill out info on the Constitution and stuff, and Physics is read 2 chapters and do some problems.

Probably can finish Gov in half a day, Lit in another, and Physics a whole day. Gonna start in September. Woo.

@ybrown, Oh yeah, I’m definitely taking the ACT. I took a diagnostic test some weeks ago and got a 34, so with a little bit of studying, I’ll likely be in good shape.

Also, whenever Brown or another similar college sends me stuff saying “Brown may be less expensive than your state college!” I’m like, “Yes…but it’s also 1000X harder to get into…”

They found a homemade bomb/firecracker in a chemistry lab in my school today. They brought in police and police dogs to sniff out more. Wow.

@collegeluva I got that Brown email too lol. I’m just like “GREAT! Too bad I’ll be rejected and unable to experience some of that supposedly great financial aid”.

Haha I got that email, too! I also think/know for sure I’ll get rejected.

Got it too! And haha same here :)
