High School Class of 2014

@jibler good idea!
2 kids next to each other in the yearbook did Team Rocket, one did “Prepare for Trouble” and the kid next to him did “Make it Double”. A lot of "Homie I graduated"s (Kanye West quote) We also do a Senior survey like favorite teacher, what you’ll be doing in 10 years, etc, etc

A pair of twins did this last year:

First one: “I didn’t choose the twin life.”
Second one: “The twin life chose me.”

I’m thinking about applying to Bowdoin. I like everything about it except for the size! It’s literally the size of my high school!

^ That’s how I feel about Pomona. It’s LITERALLY perfect in every aspect EXCEPT the size. My school has a bigger student population. But I guess since it’s part of the Claremont Consortium I will be able to meet people from different schools.

Ahhh I can’t pick which schools to apply to. I’d rather not waste the money on an application fee for an Ivy and be rejected. This is annoying. I wish next September would hurry up so I can just go to college now. I haven’t even started school yet and I’m already tired of senior year :/

I got 3 reaches, 4 matches, and 1 safety. That should be enough, right?

I think people should have more than one safety, just to be extra cautious. It usually doesn’t require any extra work to apply to another safety, but that can’t be said for a lot of reach schools.

I’m taking all my classes at a university this year, so I’m not really thrilled by the idea of college anymore. It’s been demystified. I still want to go, of course, but it doesn’t seem to matter as much where I end up. They all seem basically the same, and the only difference is the way the public perceives them.

By definition, you should only need 1 safety.

I got season tickets to UT football :)

I’m having so much trouble getting rid of reaches. At first I only had two reaches, and now I have way too many. I probably have a good number of other schools - 5 matches, 2 safeties.

I think my one safety is fine. So many people from last year’s graduating class got in… and they weren’t considered the brightest…

I agree, having one isn’t all that too concerning.

I’m glad you guys only have to worry about admissions, but for me it’s a lot more about money than getting in.

Sure, but in the real world unexpected things happen and nothing is really 100% guaranteed. And I think you should pick more than one school to which you’re essentially guaranteed admission, just so you have choices if none of your matches/reaches come through.

I only have one safety (although others claim that I have several). Originally I had three, but I wanted to add in some reach schools without increasing the number of schools that I’m applying to. If I don’t get accepted into any college, I’m completely down with taking a gap year.

So, now it’s more like 1:2:5, 1:3:4, or 1:4:3 (can’t decide on whether 2 of my schools are matches or low reaches).

I changed my list again. (Of course I did.) I’m trying to decide whether I want to apply to my safety early just to make sure I get in somewhere or wait until I apply to my early schools to see if I need it.

8:3:1 is my ratio. Come get.

In all seriousness, however, my list is so unrealistic that it pains me to look at it because I just want to cry. I have no idea how to change it, though, so I’m just going to YOLO and see what happens.

Just go for it lol. my ratio is currently 2:2:2; you’re taking more risks than me.

My ratio (for now) is 7:3:4 (R:M:S)

My ratio: 8:3:1

Used to be 9:3:1 but realized I didn’t like UChicago enough to bother to do their supplement.

I’m in the same boat as collegeluva101. I wanna go all YOLO but i’m accepting the fact i’ll probably attend my safety.

Hopefully I’ll get into a reach because I like my reaches all better than my matches and my matches more than my safeties, but they’re all okay.
