The first day of school was actually really good! It went well, other than health, really. I already got some extra credit in AP Euro! My teacher said “welcome to AP euro, get out a sheet of notebook paper,” and I freaked out since I thought it was gonna be a test on the summer reading, which would have been impossible. But it was trivia knowledge of European knowledge–really obscure stuff. To give you an idea, the highest grade was a 55; I got a 50. Out of 100. The person whose paper I graded got a 5. Im actually looking forward to this year.

@evanb1996-how was your first day back? And I have no idea if that’s the reason why I start back so early, but it’s always been this early.

@evanh: It was so hard to readjust for me. Our school day is later now, so we don’t get out until 3:35 now. That may make my last class, Honors Physics, a horrible experience. I have the same teacher for Chem and Physics and he said that this week will be so brutal for me because I have to do the same assignments twice a day. I really hate redoing assignments. I’m the only boy out of 24 people in Health Sciences 1 (it should be called Anatomy & Physiology). Just imagine the flack I’m going to get over the semester. I don’t start my Precalc class until the 25th because it is online. But we can’t use the computers yet because the school needs to activate our student codes on the computers.

And as for summer reading, I had four books:
for honors english, Lord of the Flies (so good!) and How to Read Literature Like a Professor (so stupid & pointless)
for APUSH, Greatest Generation and Devil in the White City (both really good)

I taking Honors Chem this year and I’m so nervous! Everyone at my school says it’s awful and so hard (then again I go to a public school where most people take like two AP classes when we have 26 available) Anyone have any opinions on chemistry? I loved biology and was good at it, but uhhh not so sure about chemistry haahha.

@nothingto: I kind of like it, but it seems overwhelming though. Plus, I’m the only sophomore in the whole class with a bunch of juniors. But it’s kind of nice, even though some of the girls are scary looking or roll the other way. I’m in Physics with a bunch of seniors, so that’s overwhelming too.

@letsmakehistory: I’m in the same boat as you with Honors Chem. I think that the teacher was trying to get some of us to drop to get the weak ones out by speaking so bluntly. He kind of scared me, even though I know he’s a very cool guy.

The teacher I’m assigned to for Honors Chem has a fantastic legacy. Ample humor for an educator, a rare passion for the subject, etc. With teachers like that, I’m confident I’ll learn more than I expected, while enjoying it simultaneously. My condolences, guys. :P

@anaychi Nope, I live in Minnesota. I flew down for the weekend!

@evanb1996 Yep, it’s held in Chicago and Chile annually (different times) but I’ve also heard that they’re adding Brazil to that list starting next summer!

@evanb1996 – hahaha, sounds fun. Except actually really boring. The last class of my day is math, but the teacher is really easy to get off topic, so the class is really fun. I feel bad for you, though. How many sciences are you taking?

I found out that all we’re doing with the summer reading book is a critique on Friday while our teacher hands out 9 of our 10 textbooks. Yaaay. Other than the heavy workload, AP Euro seems like it’s gonna be a fun class.

Honors Algebra II

Honors 10th English

AP Bio

Digital Photography

Intro to Marketing

Online PE

Online Washington State History (the history I think I’m gonna drop though, don’t need it)

@evanh: It is really boring now. Honors Chem, Honors Physics, and Health Sciences 1 (basic Anatomy & Physiology) are my sciences and NCSSM IVC Precalculus is my other class. NCSSM hasn’t sent any of the information for the class yet, so we are just sitting there for ~100 minutes doing nothing.

@AwkwardAardvark: Human Diseases sounds so interesting. If you get placed in there, you have to tell me about it.
