@evanh14: Personally, I think that block schedule is amazing. Even though the class are longer each day, you only have to focus on those 4 classes, which can lead to higher grades. No one here makes under a 50 (even the ones who don’t go to class) final average in their classes. Plus, I think that one semester is ample time to learn the content, finish the course, and pass the exam.

I am so in love with block schedules! Also, does CC no longer let us put smilies?! How sad! (insert sad face, which I cant do anymore)

:(

tencharacters

Yea they let us still put smiles! It just needs to be at least 10 characters.
SEE!

@RLlover: Since you’re from MN, how do you think University of Minnesota is compared with other top public schools? My Honors Bio teacher was suprised when he saw their pharmacy program was #3 in the nation.

Mine is a 7-9 class schedule per day.

me no gusta

I only have 6! You guys are lucky. I’d love to have an extra class. Mainly so I could take both Spanish and French. Or AP Physics and Honors Chem at the same time.

Well, not counting mandatory gym (I think I might have already explained this, but gym is mandatory by Illinois law) and lunch, I have 5 periods. Blah.

We used to have a only 6 periods with an advisory class (basically a class where we sat around and did nothing…). Now the administrators have finally come to their senses and taken out advisory and give us an extra period :D.
Just wondering, do you guys have to pay your school mandatory fees for things like agendas and stuff. My school does but no one even uses the agenda…

Also…Can anybody explain to me how Model United Nations works? It looks really interesting and I’m hoping to start one. Problem is that I live in Oklahoma…no conferences lol. Perhaps go out of state lol??

My school doesn’t require that you pay for an agenda, unless you lose the one they issue you at the start of the year.

We have to pay $25 >:(

@Evan, I just must not be able to see the emoticons on my iPhone anymore… Strange!

To answer your question about U of M. I’m not really interested in staying here for school, but I have visited the campus. It is HUGE! I’ve only seen the Minneapolis half ( the other being in St. Paul), and it was truly like a city in itself. It had so much to offer, especially really good Asian cuisine. That’s coming from my Korean foreign exchange student, and Chinese aunt!
Academically speaking, I’ve heard really great reviews. I know people who’ve graduated from my school who have turned down Carleton, PRINCETON, etc to go there, if that says anything.
It seems like a pretty neat university, and I’ve heard that there’s a place for everybody. Feel free to ask anything else; I’ll see what I can do!

My school has fantastic class scheduling. We have A days and B days. On A days, you have four classes. On B days, you have 3 different classes and a resource/study hall block. That means we get two days minimum to finish any homework assignment. It rocks!

Hey guys! Haven’t been on here for several days and was missing this board.
My school has a stranger block schedule. So we have 9 periods, including lunch (8 classes).
Odd days:
We have periods 1 (1.5 hr), 3 (1.5 hr), 5 (lunch/45 min class), 6 (45 min class/lunch), 7 (1.5 hr), 9 (45 min)

Even Days
We have periods 2(1.5 hr), 4(1.5 hr), 5 (lunch/45 min class), 6 (45 min class/lunch), 8 (1.5 hr), 9 (45 min)

School starts at 7:25 AM, and ends at 3 PM. I like block schedule for how much we cover in class and not having to finish hw every night, but i dislike it since it promotes my unhealthy procrastination habits. :P

Yeah, we have A and B days as well with four classes each, although we don’t have a built in study-hall period. I’m kind of glad, though-- 8 classes a year already isn’t enough for all the electives, APs, and stupid required courses (like PE, health, technology) that I want to take!

How long do you guys get for lunch? Our school has 2000+ kids, we have two lunches that depend on your fourth period and we get 30 minutes.

20-22 minutes. Our school likes to cut things that matter.

We get 23 minutes; more than we got in middle school.

30 minutes or so.

20 minutes. It’s way more than enough time to eat if you bring your lunch :P.

We get 34! I guess I’m lucky haha? But one lunch is at 10:20, which is like breakfast.
