^You should also try Direct Hits US History. It’s apparently really good (the best, I’ve heard).

@franzfernidand,

It’s my school. It just found a excuse to make the class double periods instead of one. My school, as I said, is weird and sucks :/

Also, school starts tomorrow for me. Wish me luck on the teachers.

haha I got assigned 50+ pages of reading for HW and it’s only the first day…

and @anaychi I recommend REA’s Crash Course, it got me a 5.

First day: Teacher review.

Chemistry - PLETHORA of opportunities to get a 100 in the class. Alot of extra credit (almost too much).

English - Going to be rough, but I expect a 95+, since I got off to a good start with the teacher.

Spanish II - Dunno, I don’t like the teacher, but I might get a 95+ or a possible 100.

AP WH - My teacher gave me a 100 once in 9th grade (AP WH), but now in 10th grade, it is going to get harder, but expect 95+

Alg2/Trig - My teacher is nice (had her in fresh for geometry), and she is understanding towards me, because she knows I want to strive for the highest grades, so she will possibly try her best to improve my grades as much as she can.

Phys Ed - Whateva

Symphonic Band - Whatever, got a new teacher (brand new). Dunno how it’ll go.

Hey guys! Anyone have good teachers? I was really unlucky this year… Only have a good AP gov teacher, but the rest shouldn’t be too hard. Woo school!

All my teachers are good but the English teacher is an extremely harsh grader and the science teacher is the head of science department and an extremely harsh grader.

Both of these teach IB HL courses at my school.

AP World History might be the most funnest class I have, or ever had. Very interesting.

I’m ****ed. Today I walked into my APUSH class, and I found out they got rid of APUSH and replaced it with honors U.S History. I was so looking forward to taking an AP class. Now I have ZERO AP classes my sophomore year. I want to also take AP econ, but my counselor told my parent that I had to be a Junior to take it. So now I’m stuck in Marketing. I know a sophomore who is taking APUSH online another hour, due to a scheduling conflict with band. That makes me so mad that he can take APUSH.

I just got my English teacher switched! I’m so happy! Serendipitously, the office called me in and asked if they could switch two of my classes (changing my English teacher) so as to lessen the number of students in one of my classes. I got switched out of my current, difficult English teacher and into a new, easier one (whom I feel is better at English). Yippee!

As for my teachers, I have good ones. Now that my English teacher has been switched, not one of them is inadequate. Strangely, many of my teachers are side-splittingly funny this year… Lucky me!

Sounds like you all are having good (and bad) times with school so far. I’m loving school so far (today marked a month including weekends). Maybe I should do a quick one-month school report?

Honors Chem: Lots of stuff learned so far. e- configs, decay, atoms, elements, bonds, and other stuff. I’ve been breezing through stuff, but it requires some studying.

Honors Precalc: HARD. It’s rigorous b/c its through NCSSM. I’ve been studying alot and still don’t seem to get some stuff. Maybe because my teacher hasn’t really had time to go over parent functions since the other school just started with us today.

Health Sciences: Made some mistakes in the beginning as in terms of studying and note-taking. I got an 88 on a quiz and it gave me a wake-up call (less than 90 on anything is failing to me) So far, it’s been better.

Honors Physics: Not that hard. Still on one-dim motion. Starting on statics and trig stuff tomorrow and moving onto two-dim motion sometime next week.

English 2 Honors: My teacher is really funny and nice. He seems to know a lot about English so I’m excited to be in his class

Geometry Honors: My teacher is okay. She’s nice but I don’t understand the way she teaches. I have to pretty much teach myself everything that we learn.

Spanish 4 Honors: I absolutely LOVE this class! My teacher only teaches and speaks in Spanish but she makes it a lot of fun and very interesting. In our class, we’re working on a group project in which the boys have to make up a song in Spanish about the girls and the girls have to make up a song about the boys. We’re gonna have to make up choreography and dress up. It’s gonna be hilarious!

Chemistry Honors: I’m generally not a fan of science but my teacher is REALLY cool. She’s like a student. I don’t even think of her as my teacher lol. I talk to her as casually as I would to one of my friends. As far as the actual chemistry goes, I’m not sure yet. We have our first lab tomorrow. I know I’m gonna have to work my butt off to get an A’ but I gotta do what I gotta do!

AP World History: My teacher is very educated. She knows everything about what she teaches and does a great job of lecturing and making sure that we understand the material. The class is very intense and everyone stays on task. We just took out first test and I’m so happy to say that I got an A’! I was so happy that I almost cried lol

Financial Operations Honors: This class is a part of the Academy of Finance at my school. Along with it, you get to join DECA. I really enjoy the class because it prepares us for the future and it’s a lot of fun. My teacher is also very nice. About a week ago, we had class elections, and I was elected Senator

International Relations Honors: This class mainly goes over current events and political events. One of our weekly homework assignments is to watch the news so It’s not a hard class and the teacher is really nice. I’m glad I’m taking it because really would like to know what’s going on in the world…

I’m really happy with my schedule and all my teachers that I got. I know it won’t be easy but I WILL GET STRAIGHT A’S ALL YEAR! LET’S GO CLASS OF 2014

Sent from my iPod touch using CC App

Not to mention 3 of my teachers are new… 2 new to the school, and one new to the whole subject as a whole… -____-

Oh well, I hope they grade good, because that’s all I care about at the moment from those teachers at least.

Class report time. I might do another quick one after my first month back, this was only day three. Anyways.

World History Honors – my teacher is amazing. The class is interesting. Today we talked about what is happening in the Middle East right now. By the end of the year he says we will be able to draw a map of the world, freehand, without a guide. He’s funny, in a sort of dry way and I have already learned a lot.

Spanish III – being able to say I’m passionate about Spanish would be nice. My teacher is nice and bubbly, sort of easy going, which is good, I’m just not too crazy about the language. I’m dropping it after this year and I think I will start a language at a local CC, like Arabic or something.

Algebra II/Trig Honors – my teacher seems to be very down to Earth. She cracks a few jokes, is understanding when you don’t seem to get something. Unfortunately the class is 80% tests and generally I’m terrible as a test taker. My teacher explains things well and doesn’t seem to be entirely serious, so even though I don’t like math, I think I’ll be fine.

English II Honors – funny teacher, interesting assignments, from what I can tell. Already we’ve written our first paper, a first-person narrative that we wrote using an interview in the perspective of a classmate. I can tell this class is actually going to make you think, the teacher seems to really enjoy English.

AP Physics – mildly dorky teacher, but it’s in a good way. He’s laid back and what we’re learning is bland right now, he makes the class fun. He also cracks a few jokes, explains everything easily, and takes time to let us furiously scribble notes (that aren’t even required). Excited for the more interesting subjects.

Play Production – awesome. The teacher is my favorite, and we’re about the cast the first show we’re putting on and the script is hilarious. Also excited.

I can’t wait for things to pick up pace. Most of my teachers (besides math and theatre) are sort of slowly easing us into the work, which is nice, instead of slamming us right away.

^ I agree, it’s taking TOOOOO long for these classes to pick up. Im on my second day, and we still didn’t have any challenging homeworks or tests, or anything.

Just talking about procedures, which we heard thousands of time before in 9th grade, which are just repeated stuff.

I’ve had some homework, but nothing challenging really, and it’s taken me less than thirty minutes to complete. Just a couple of math problems which were quite easy, and getting things signed, like a syllabus for math and safety contract for labs in Physics.

I can’t wait to actually be reading in English (or doing writing), learning actual Physics material, and diving into some actual World History.

Hopefully next week.

I have so much homework. You guys should be lucky that you have some free time on your hands. Also, my AP World History teacher gave us the most convoluted lecture on a compare and contrast essay today. It really stressed me out. Oh, and my new English teacher gave me two weeks worth of work to make up. It’s going to be a fun weekend…

Weekend Homework (Day 2)

Algebra 2A- We had two algebra vocab w/s, and I finished one in class and about half of the other one. I should be able to finish the other w/s in about 10-20 minutes.

Lit TypesA- No homework, but we had a class discussion about one of our summer reading books. It was quite interesting, since religion was a large portion of the discussion.

Spanish 3A- No homework. We had an assembly for most of the hour. All we had to do was a journal entry (100 words in spanish) about our summers; It was quite challenging, since I forgot a lot of the vocab words and conjegations. I only wrote 60 words and the journals are kept in class, so I’ll just finish it on Monday.

Marketing-No homework, we had a sub. We had a ton of class work though. It took me the whole hour to work on it.

US History A- The teacher talked a lot about the steam engine, and he talked about the industrial revolution for a considerable amount of time. For homework we have to choose one of fifteen inventions on the time line, in our book, and write a few paragraphs on it. (I forgot what we are supposed to write specifically, so I’ll have to FB a classmate)
It should take me around 20 minutes, but it depends on how much research I do.

Chem StudyA- We built towers with sponge pieces and toothpicks. We also had a basic lab report, that reviewed the scientific method, to go along with it. I finished the w/s in class, so no homework there.

Overall: 30-40 minutes of homework for the first weekend of the school year, not bad.
